Disney warns against Chinese trade war

Walt Disney's chief executive has warned that a trade war between the
United States and China would not only be bad for Disney's business
but for business in general.

Disney recently opened a theme park in China and on the campaign trail
Donald Trump threatened to slap a 45% tariff on Chinese imports.

Trump & Erdogan agree to act jointly against Islamic State in Syria

U.S President Trump and Turkish President Erdogan have agreed to act jointly against Islamic State in Syria.
According to Turkish officials the two leaders have also discussed issues including a safe zone in Syria, the refugee crisis and the fight against terror during a telephone call.

Trump launches scathing attack on country's judiciary

President Trump has launched a scathing attack on America's courts, accusing them of putting the country's safety at risk by over-ruling his travel ban.


He's told an audience of sherrifs and police that he was elected to bring law and order to the country, but the courts are now poised to stop him.

Russian oppositioner Navalny found guilty of embezzlement in retrial

Russian opposition activist and anti-corruption blogger Alexey Navalny received a five-year suspended sentence for embezzlement. The politician, who claimed he'd stand against Vladimir Putin in 2018 Presidential elections, denounced the guilty verdict as politically motivated. The sentence may prevent Mr.Navaly from running for office but the activists says he will appeal it and continue his political fight against the Kremlin. Daria Bondarchuk reports from Moscow.

Grieving Mother Protests Trump's Under-reported Terrorism" List

The mother of a British woman killed in a brutal knife attack in Australia is protesting the inclusion of her murder in a list of "under-reported terrorist attacks" by the White House.

Violence continues in Paris suburbs following police rape allegations

Violence has continued in a number of Paris suburbs surrounding allegations that French police officers raped and beat a young black man they were arresting. 

Dozens of cars and a nursery school were set on fire which resulted in standoffs with police.

Rolf Harris cleared of three sexual offences

Discredited Australian entertainer Rolf Harris has been cleared of three sex offences following a three week trial in London.   

The 86 year old is currently serving a prison sentence after being convicted in 2014 for a series of assaults against four females including a child.  From London, Catherine Drew reports.

Albanians have highest rate of clandestine immigrants than any other nationality in UK

Far more Albanians than any other nationality are caught at UK ports trying to enter the country illegally, according to government data.

But newly released figures also show there was a big rise in Iranians, Syrians and Iraqis caught trying to get into Britain illegally as Europe's refugee crisis intensified in 2015.

Brexit could see UK lose 30,000 financial jobs

The UK stands to lose 30 thousand financial jobs and 2 trillion dollars as a result of Brexit, according to a European Think Tank.


That's estimated to be the cost of financial firms having to move businesses to countries inside the European Union trading bloc, provided the UK exits the single market , something the British Prime Minister said would happen.

Australian government attempts Trump-like changes to visas

BREXIT BILL EXPECTED TO PASS UK COMMONS

The UK government's Brexit legislation faces its final vote to clear the House of Commons later ((after 2000GMT)).

The bill which will give the Prime Minister the power to start formal negotiations on leaving the EU is expected to pass.

It will then head to the House of Lords and is likely to become law in early March, meaning Brexit talks could then begin.

On Tuesday the government saw off attempts to add amendments to its bill by promising MPs will get a vote on a final draft deal before the European Parliament gets final sign off.

Conservative MP Stephen Hammond was considering rebelling against his party until that concession was made.

Elizabeth Warren silenced over senate criticism of Jeff Sessions

US Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren has been silenced by Senate Republicans after reading a letter written by the widow of Martin Luther King Jr.

Majority leader Mitch McConnell said Ms Warren had broken Senate rules because the letter impugned the conduct of Senator Jeff Sessions - who the Senate is considering for the role of Attorney General.

A federal appeals court in San Francisco is considering the government's appeal of a federal judge's order temporarily preventing enforcement of  President Trump's controversial immigration ban.
