May calls US travel ban "divisive and wrong", says all had advance notice

UK Prime Minister Theresa May says US President Donald Trump's travel ban on people from 7 mainly Muslim countries is "divisive and wrong".   

She's been responding to criticism in the House of Commons over an invitation extended to Mr Trump for a state visit to Britain this year.

1.8 million people have signed an online petition against a Trump state visit to the UK.

Mrs May was asked by opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn if she received advance notice of the policy change during her visit to the White House.

Britain's former Ambassador to the European Union says talks on Britain's exit from the bloc will be 'humongous' in scale.

Sir Ivan Rogers, who resigned from his post last month, warned European leaders did not expect any deal to be ratified until the early to mid 2020s.   

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has hopes the negations and a trade deal can be concluded within two years. 

Giving evidence to MPs, Sir Ivan Rogers warned the talks would be all-encompassing.

EU agrees deal to end mobile roaming charges this year

The EU has made a deal to end mobile-roaming charges by this coming June- meaning EU citizens can use their phones across the EU without paying extra.

Marine Le Pen refuses to repay EU, has MEP salary slashed

Far right French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has refused to repay 320 000 dollars to the European Parliament - for wages paid to her assistant, who the Parliament says never worked there.

UK MPs TO VOTE ON BREXIT BILL

British MPs will vote later ((after 1900G)) on Brexit legislation which would allow the triggering of formal talks with the EU on the terms of the UK's exit from the bloc.

Using committee rules, Democrats have stalled the nominations process for several proposed members of Donald Trump's cabinet.

UN Security Council agrees that Iran's ballistic missile launch did not violate resolution

talks have been postponed.

UN confirms delay of Syria peace talks

The United Nations envoy to Syria has confirmed the long-delayed peace
talks have been further postponed by another two weeks.

Staffan de Mistura said the Geneva talks would now be held on 20th
February to allow more time for a ceasefire to solidify and for the
opposition to form a delegation.

He praised the recent negotiations in Astana, Kazakstan which were
initiated by Russia, Turkey and Iran.

Staffan de Mistura said the postponement was about waiting not canceling.

White House says "it's not a travel ban"

The Trump White House is continuing to insist the executive order on travel visas and immigration is not a travel ban, when President Trump himself has used the phrase, "Muslim ban."

According to reports, it is unclear how the executive order is being implemented, despite efforts by the Department of Homeland Security to allow legal permanent residents - green card holders who are not yet citizens - back in from their overseas travel.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer says the U.S. needs to know more about the people traveling from war-torn nations, such as Syria.

The city of San Francisco has filed a lawsuit challenging President Trump's executive order regarding sanctuary cities.
