Trump begins first working week as US president

Donald Trump is beginning his first full working week as President of the United States. On the campaign trail he made a series of promises that he pledged to fulfill as soon as he took office, including the deportation of all illegal immigrants.

Actors shot during music video shoot in Brisbane, Australia

A young actor has been shot dead while filming a hip-hop music video in a Brisbane City underground bar.
Australian band Bliss n Eso were filming the video in the Brooklyn Standard in Eagle Lane on Monday afternoon when several firearms were discharged as part of the production.
Police say that as a result one of the actors was shot in the chest and died from his injuries.

A British woman held in Iranian jail loses her appeal against charges

A British woman who has been held in Iran since April accused of trying to topple the government in Tehran has had an appeal against her 5 year sentence dismissed. 

The husband of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe says two new allegations were made against her during the appeal, although the precise original charges against the dual Iran/British citizen remain secret.    From London, Catherine Drew reports.

Women's marches attract tens of thousands

In cities around the United States, tens of thousands are participating in pro-women's rights and anti-Donald Trump marches.

President Trump attended a National Prayer Service at the National Cathedral and meetings at the CIA.

Putin meeting with Trump may be months away

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has been quoted by Russian news
agencies as saying that a meeting between the Russian and US
presidents could be months away.

Far right politicians from across Europe gathered in the German city of Koblenz on Saturday to celebrate the inauguration of Donald Trump.
Marine Le Pen of the French Front National, Geert Wilders of the Dutch Freedom Party and Frauke Petry of the Alternative for Germany all gave speeches praising Trump - and saying his victory would pave the way to a return to nationalism in Europe.

"El Chapo" pleads not guilty in US court on 17-count indictment

"El Chapo," the notorius Mexican drug lord behind one of the world's largest drug cartels, has pleaded not guilty in a New York federal court.


Joaquin Guzman faces 17 charges including drug trafficking, money laundering, murder and kidnapping across several US cities.

Uber Agrees to 20 Million Dollar Settlement

Ride sharing service Uber has agreed to pay 20 million dollars to settle a US government lawsuit over driver compensation. 

The Federal Trade Commission sued the San Francisco based ride hailing app, saying it made misleading claims about how much money drivers could earn.

President Donald Trump signs a series of bills an hour after being sworn in
