Freezing temperatures hit much of Europe

Much of Europe is in the grip of a deep freeze - with homeless shelters in Paris running out of space as temperatures fall to minus 4. and cold weather in Italy and Spain destroying much of this winter's vegetable crop.

Apple could be forced to pay an additional $1.7b to Ireland in lost interest

Apple may be forced to pay the Irish government an additional 1 point 7 billion dollars in interest according to economic analysts.

UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson says countries are 'queuing up' to sign trade deals with Britain.

Writing in the Telegraph, he also says while negotiations on new trade agreements can't formally start until the UK's left the EU - ideas can be 'pencilled in'.

His comments come after UK Prime Minister Theresa May confirmed Britain would leave the European single market so it can bring EU immigration under its control.

The search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 in the Indian Ocean will only be resumed if new credible information pointing to a specific location comes to light.

Obama commutes Chelsea Manning sentence

Deutsche Bank Agrees to Pay $7.2bn to US Over Risky Mortgage Sales

Deutsche Bank has signed a 7.2 billion dollar settlement with the US Department of Justice, over its sale of toxic mortgage securities in the run up to the financial crisis of 2008.

The agreement was reached in principle back in December but is now official, and it's the largest such deal with one single entity for selling such products.

Trump Pick for Health Sec'y Accused of Insider Trading

President-elect Donald Trump's choice to lead the overhaul of the US healthcare system is facing accusations of insider trading. 

According to reports on CNN, Georgia Congressman Tom Price bought stock from a medical company days before introducing a bill that would have helped the company. 

The Senate will hold confirmation hearings for Tom Price -- a congressman and a doctor -- on Wednesday.
