Families of Islamic State Attack Victims Sue Twitter


Dozens killed in Kabul attack

The Taliban is claiming responsibility for a pair of suicide attacks, one outside the parliament in Kabul and the other at the governor's guesthouse in Kandahar.

At least 38 are confirmed dead with many dozens more injured.

Afghanistan's president Ashraf Ghani is vowing to track down those responsible for these criminal attacks.

The  U.S. is strongly condemning the violence.

Trump wall branded a "violation of Mexicans' dignity"

Mexico's new Foreign Minister has said there's no way they'll pay for
a wall between Mexico and the United States - saying it's a violation
of Mexicans' dignity.

Luis Videgaray's comments come after President-elect, Donald Trump,
pledged to build a barrier between the two countries - and make Mexico
pay for it.

Powerful storms hit western US

Peace through strength - preview of Trump's foreign policy

The primary mission of the Trump administration when it comes to foreign policy will be peace through strength, according to incoming National Security advisor Michael Flynn.

He briefly served as the chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency, but has been broadly criticized for his skepticism of how American intelligence agencies work.

During a speech at an event at the U.S. Insititute of Peace on "passing the baton" Michael Flynn stuck to generalities on foreign policy.

Obama set to deliver farewell defense of legacy

US President Barack Obama will deliver a farewell speech later [0200GMT Wednesday] in his hometown of Chicago.

Mr Obama is expected to highlight several of his signature domestic and foreign policy achievements, and tout the recovery in the US economy during his time in office.

The White House says the speech is "a chance to say thank you" to his supporters.

Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions says he will recuse himself from any possible probe of Hillary Clinton. Democrats expressed concern that Sessions would try to prosecute the former Democratic presidential candidate after President-elect Donald Trump threatened to appoint a special prosecutor to look into possible criminal wrongdoing by Clinton during the campaign. Europe's highest court says Muslim girls do have to attend mixed swimming lessons

TThe European Court of Human Rights has ruled Muslim girls in Switzerland do have to attend swimming lessons with boys.

The case was brought by two Swiss Muslim parents who had refused to send their daughters to compulsory mixed swimming lessons in the city of Basel.

US citizens in Haiti 'moved to safety' after ex-coup leader extradited to Florida


Haitian authorities have moved dozens of U.S. citizens to safety after attempted attacks by supporters of Haitian Senator-elect Guy Philippe, who was arrested and extradited to the US last week, reports Reuters.

Phillipe, who rose to prominence after he led a coup against Haiti's President in 2004, face charges in Miami court.

Sec. Kerry defends Syria policy

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is defending American policy on Syria, especially the promise by President Obama to use military force against Syria if President Assad used chemical weapons.

The U.S. military has confirmed to the Washington Post that it is now coordinating drone flights with the Turkish military as the fight against the Islamic State continues.

Democrats Call for Review After Trump Appoints Son in Law as Adviser

A group of Democrats in the US are pushing for the Justice Department and the Office of Government Ethics to look into Donald Trump's appointment of his son-in-law Jared Kushner as a top adviser.

Democrats urge delays for Trump cabinet nomination hearings

Blacklisted Russian hits back at US

One of the five people blacklisted by the United States this week says
it was done as a last act of spite by the Obama administration.

Lawmaker Andrei Lugovoi is wanted for murder in the United Kingdom and

The UK is having to deal with further strike action on Tuesday, as British Airways cabin crews and Southern Rail carry out industrial action.

UK in the "front seat" for a US trade deal

German security chiefs meet in Berlin
