Search Intensifies For Istanbul Nightclub Attacker

The hunt for the man who opened fire, killing 39 people in an Istanbul nightclub on New Year's Eve is intensifying.

Police have launched raids in Turkey's largest city and 12 people are now in custody for questioning.

Trump attacks North Korea on Twitter

US President-Elect Donald Trump has rejected North Korea's claim it's
nearing the completion of nuclear technology that could reach America.

2016 One of Most Violent Years Ever for Chicago

End of year data released by the Chicago Police Department shows 2016 was one of the most violent years in history for that city. 

The year ended with 762 homicides in Chicago.

US claims ISIS on defensive despite Baghdad car bombing


A car bomb has killed dozens of people in Baghdad as US-backed Iraqi forces continue their fight against the self-declared Islamic state group.

ISIS is being blamed for the bombing, the latest in a series of explosions and attacks in several Iraqi cities in the past few days.

New United Nations chief calls for peace in 2017

The new United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called
for peace in 2017 urging the international community to leave war and
bloodshed in the past.

The former Prime Minister of Portugal was officially sworn into the

Trump still sceptical ahead of intelligence briefings on Russia

America's incoming leader Donald Trump is set to be briefed in the coming days on Russia's alleged interference in the recent US election.

The President-elect will hear from US intelligence officials on why they concluded that Russia was behind cyber attacks on election-related networks.

Mr Trump has expressed skepticism about the charges, citing spy agencies' incorrect assessments about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

UN Security Council to vote Saturday on backing Syria ceasefire deal

In the final hours of 2016, the UN Security Council will meet on an ambitious but shaky ceasefire in Syria, and decide whether it will endorse the agreement brokered by Russia and Turkey.


Russia is seeking the UN's backing for a deal that many hope might be a turning point in the six-year conflict, but the ceasefire has already been pockmarked by fresh clashes.

Russian UN ambassador lashes out at US for closing country retreats in MD, NY.

Russians holidaying at two American country retreats in Centreville, Maryland and Long Island, New York vacated the premises on Friday, per order from the Obama administration.
