UN chief urges resumption of Aleppo evacuation
to allow the evacuation of civilians from Aleppo to resume.
Speaking at his final press conference, Ban Ki-moon said the situation
in Syria was "heartbreaking" and that the UN had failed the Syrian
people.
He also apologized for leaving so much unfinished business for his
successor Antonio Guterres who takes over as UN Secretary-General on
January the first.
Ban Ki-moon said the world was watching the situation deteriorate in Aleppo.

UK will not scale back child sexual abuse inquiry
The new chair of a UK independent inquiry into child sexual abuse, Alexis Jay, has rejected calls for it to be scrapped.
An internal review of the inquiry was called for, after Professor Jay became the fourth person to head-up the inquiry which has faced several set-backs since it was set up in 2014.

White House Suggests Russia Behind US Election Interference
The White House deputy national security advisor, Ben Rhodes, said the Russian president's likely to have been aware of and involved with cyber intrusions.

EU Leaders Decide Not to Impose New Sanctions Against Syria and Russia
An EU summit--which the mayor of East Aleppo attended--focused on Syria but the bloc didn't decide to take any concrete action to stop the bloodshed.
Aleppo evacs continue; US condemns convoy attack; France seeks urgent UN meeting
Evacuations continue in eastern Aleppo as part of a Russia-Turkey ceasefire deal reached this week.
But the pause in fighting and humanitarian arrangements remain precarious amid reports of an attack on an aid convoy.
The United States is calling for a lasting political solution, and the UN is planning an emergency meeting on Aleppo.
