UN: World Health Organization Urges US President-Elect to Keep Affordable Care Act

The United Nations health agency is urging US President-Elect Donald
Trump to keep the President Obama's Affordable Care Act in place.

Nearly 25 million gained healthcare for the first time under the
program known as "Obamacare".

Obama orders intelligence inquiry into Russian attempts to influence US Election's outcome

President Obama has ordered America's intelligence agencies to conduct an inquiry into Russian attempts to influence the outcome of the US Presidential election.


He says he wants the inquiry completed before he leaves office next month.

UN Security Council Discusses Human Rights Situation in North Korea

The UN Security Council has been discussing the human rights situation in North Korea.

Members were briefed by the Deputy Secretary General, as well as the Assistant Secretary General for Human Rights, who detailed numerous crimes against humanity including torture, forced disappearances and deliberate starvation. 

But before that briefing on the issue of the human rights situation in North Korea, the Council voted on whether or not to go ahead with it - our UN correspondent Lorna Shaddick explains why.

Fox agrees to $23bn preliminary deal for Sky

The US media group 21st Century Fox has agreed to a preliminary deal to buy British broadcaster Sky...

In a stock market announcement, Sky said directors of both companies had reached agreement on an offer price of 10 pounds 75 pence a share - around 13 dollars 50 cents.

Bolivian aviation official accuses bosses of cover-up


A Bolivian aviation official is accusing the country's Civil Aviation Authority of trying to cover-up the truth behind the crash of a LaMia plane that killed 71 people.

Banks urge UK Government to allow phased Brexit for Financial Institutions


The UK's biggest banks are urging the country's government to allow them to remain under EU law for up to 5 years after Brexit.


Legal documents have been drawn up by three of the UK's biggest law firms on behalf of these banks to lobby the government for a phased EU exit for financial institutions.

Union chief defends Trump comments

Chuck Jones, the president of the Steelworkers union local 1999, is continuing to stand up for himself after Donald Trump personally attacked him as a poor leader.

Mr. Jones went public with the reality that air conditioner maker Carrier would only keep about 800 jobs in Indiana, not the 1,100  that the president-elect was so happy to promote at a rally last week.

Union chief Jones told reporters, he believes in the message of keeping jobs in America, but there just aren't that many good paying manufacturing jobs anymore for the workers who will be fired.

EU countries still not sharing enough data on Europeans who have joined ISIS

The EU's counter terrorism co-ordinator Gilles de Kerchove says European countries still need to improve information sharing to trace fighters returning to Europe from Iraq and Syria.

Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders convicted in hate-speech trial

Dutch judges have convicted far-right politician Geert Wilders {PRON: gayrt vil-ders} for hate speech and discrimination.
