Bipartisan Task Force Recommends Greater US Military Power in Syria

A bipartisan task force is reportedly recommending the United States use greater military power and covert action in Syria. 
The task force was lead by former U. S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright…a Democrat, and by former US National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley…a Republican.

WH: Trump's deal to keep US jobs at A/C plant 'Good News'


The White House said it was 'good news' that US air conditioner manufacturer, Carrier had reached a deal with President-elect Donald Trump to keep some one-thousand Indiana jobs from moving to Mexico.  

Speaking Wednesday, spokesperson Josh Earnest said without seeing the details of the agreement the early indications were positive, but added President Obama had set a high standard for Mr Trump to follow...

New UN sanctions cap DPRK coal exports to squeeze key revenue source


The UN Security Council on Wednesday unanimously adopted a resolution that tightens sanctions on North Korea by especially targeting a key revenue source. 


For the first time, the council has set a cap on the amount of coal that the country can export, to put a squeeze on Pyongyang's ability to fund its nuclear program.

Italian heir arrested on false kidnapping claim

A false kidnapping claim has landed an Italian heir in jail in the US.
Lapo Elkann, who stands to inherit part of the Fiat fortune,
reportedly told his family he had been kidnapped by a transgender
prostitute and needed ransom money to "guarantee his safety".

UN: Number of displaced people in Afghanistan is highest since 2008

Cuba: Fidel Castro's ashes are taken to Santiago de Cuba

Sextortion cases lead to four suicides in UK

Police in the UK say at least four men have committed suicide after becoming victims of the blackmail method known as "sextortion"...

The National Crime Agency has launched a new campaign to tackle the problem, which involves criminals using fake online profiles to persuade victims to perform sexual acts in front of their webcam, then threatening to release the footage to family and friends if they do not pay.

Russia awaits OPEC decision on oil production cap
