UN asks Nigeria to explain reports of forceful evictions from Lagos

The United Nations is asking Nigeria's government to explain reports that it had forcefully evicted 30-thousand people in Lagos state.

Four people reportedly died in the latest operation by the government to clear the city of make-shift homes, despite a court order against it.

Suspected New York Bomber Given Federal Indictment

US homelessness rate drops slightly, but up in some big cities

The annual nationwide report on homelessness shows that the rate of people living in the streets in America has dropped by 3 percent over the past year.

But, the data also shows the opposite trend in several major cities.

US Pres. elect meets with Japan PM as Trump transition efforts continue

President elect Donald Trump is expected to hold his first face to face meeting with a world leader Thursday when he sits down with Japan's Prime Minister.

Shinzo Abe's visit comes as Mr. Trump and his transition team continue to assemble candidates for his administration.

According to his advisors, Trump has now spoken with 32 world leaders since winning the election.

World's largest dementia study finds lifetime loss of sense of direction

The world's largest dementia research experiment has concluded that a person's sense of direction declines consistently through a lifetime, starting around the age of 20.

European Parliament to order UKIP to repay $185,000 in misused funds

The European Parliament is set to ask UKIP to repay tens of thousands of dollars after misspending the cash on former leader Nigel Farage's failed bid to win a seat in the British Parliament.

Prince William says wild animals still being killed in "horrifying numbers"

Britain's Prince William has called for efforts to tackle the poaching of endangered wildlife to be accelerated, saying animals including elephants, rhinos and lions were being killed in "horrifying numbers".

The heir to the British throne said the brutality of criminal gangs intent of illegal poaching was still escalating despite strenuous efforts. 

He also called on the UK to follow the example of the US and China and introduce a total ban on the domestic ivory trade.   It is still legal to trade in ivory antiques in the UK if they were carved before 1947. 

Speaking at a conference in Vietnam, Prince William said the slaughter involved in illegal poaching  could be stopped through international cooperation.

Defeated US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has urged her supporters to 'never give up' despite Donald Trump's election win.

Speaking at a children's charity event she told the audience to continue to fight for American values.

The Democratic candidate won the popular vote in the US election, but lost the electoral college.

She reflected on her own situation by paying tribute to the Children's Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman.

Mexicans warned against US "abuse and fraud"

Mexico has published a list of guidelines for Mexicans living in the
USA - aimed at helping them avoid being victims of abuse and fraud.

It includes advice about avoiding "conflict situations."
