DOWNING STREET REJECTS 'BREXIT MEMO'

A leaked memo claims the UK government doesn't yet have a strategy for Brexit negotiations, and is unlikely to form one for months.

The document was written by an un-named consultant for Britain's Cabinet Office and also claims divisions in the cabinet are behind the lack of an overall plan.

Downing Street says it doesn't recognise the claims in what it says was an 'unsolicited' document touting for business with the government.

It's been published by the Times newspaper.

Reporter Dan Whitehead is at Westminster and says it suggests the government's Brexit timetable may be in doubt.

EasyJet profits 28% down amid "significant challenges"

British budget airline EasyJet has seen a dramatic fall in pre-tax profits in the year to the end of September.  The airline, the second biggest in Europe by number of passengers, says the year held a number of what it called significant challenges, which included the post-Brexit slump of the pound and terror attacks.

The news came as Easyjet revealed it has set up a new airline in Europe ahead of Britain's exit from the European Union.  From London, Catherine Drew reports.

President Obama says that President-elect Donald Trump is committed to NATO.

President Obama has told reporters he thinks President-elect Donald Trump is pragmatic and not driven by ideology.  In a White House news conference, the President described his recent meeting with Trump as very cordial.  He said it was impressive that Trump was able to energize such a large group of disgruntled voters in the presidential campaign but he sidestepped questions about prior comments he made that Trump is "temperamentally unfit" for the office.
Obama said things would be easier for his successor as the nation is indisputably in better shape than it was when he assumed office eight years ago.
