Italy has prevented the European Union from slapping new sanctions on Russia over the conflict in Syria as EU leaders are wrap up their summit in Brussels.

The EU and Russia already have tit for tat sanctions in place over the Ukraine conflict and Russia's annexation of Crimea.

South Africa Tells UN its Intent to Leave ICC

South Africa has started the process of withdrawing from the International Criminal Court based in The Hague.

It puts the future of the ICC at risk, with Burundi also stating it's intent of leaving the court's jurisdiction.

UK BY-ELECTION RESULTS IN

In a UK by-election, Labour candidate Tracy Brabin has held onto the seat where Jo Cox was MP when she was murdered in June.

Tracy Brabin came home with 85% of the vote, with major parties not contesting the election after Jo Cox's killing.

There was also a by-election in Witney - the seat vacated by Prime Minister David Cameron who quit as an MP after losing the Brexit referendum.

Briony Wright is in Witney, which was won by Conservative candidate Robert Courts.

Russia pauses Aleppo bombing 11 hours for four days

Mosul Offensive ‘Going Faster Than Planned’ Says Iraqi PM
