Venezuela's Supreme Court changes referendum rules

Venezuela's Supreme court has ruled that the opposition campaign trying to oust President Nicolas Maduro must now secure 20% of voters in each state, rather than 20% of the country's overall electorate.

The move will make it harder for Maduro's opponents to mobilize support during the three days that have been allotted for the petition of signatures.

UK Child Abuse Inquiry Quizzed Over Resignation of Lowell Goddard

The UK's Home Affairs Select Committee is questioning the panel of an inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse over the resignation of the investigation's third chairperson, Dame Lowell Goddard.

Dame Goddard stepped down after just 16 months in the role, saying in her resignation letter that her decision was as a result of the legacy of failure in the inquiry, which had been hard to shake off.

The New Zealand Judge however has been accused of being difficult to work with and using racist language, something that Dame Goddard has since denied.

Whilst being quizzed by the Home Affairs Select Committee, the fourth chair of the inquiry Alexis Jay, explained that the Inquiry's panel felt Dame Goddard had preferred to work alone.
