US urges Ethiopia to respect rights of its citizens during the emergency period

The U.S. is urging Ethiopia to implement the state of emergency declared in the country with caution so as to maintain respect for human rights of the citizens...

Ethiopia declared a 6 months state of emergency  on October 8, in response to recent protests and violence in its Oromia and Amhara regions.

Trump threatens legal action after newspaper story

The Trump campaign is threatening legal action after the New York Times published an article in which two women say they were inappropriately touched and fondled by the Republican candidate.

Bob Dylan wins Nobel Prize in Literature

21 Chibok girls freed by the Boko Haram

21 schoolgirls kidnapped from a boarding school in Chibok, in north-east Nigeria by Boko Haram militants have been freed.   

The freed girls were released in exchange for four militants after negotiations between the Nigerian government, Red Cross and Swiss government brokered the exchange.

Sturgeon tells SNP gathering plans for a second independence referendum underway

Nicola Sturgeon has opened the Scottish National Party conference in Glasgow by telling members a consultation will get underway next week on plans for a second referendum on Scottish independence.

Shock in Germany over terror suspect's suicide

Authorities in the German state of Saxony are under fire over the suicide of a suspected terrorist in a Leipzig jail. 

Police arrested the 22 year old Syrian refugee over the weekend after finding dangerous explosives at his apartment.

Aid groups request French court blocks closure of 'Jungle' migration camp in Calais

A number of aid organizations have filed a submission to a French court to delay the closure of the migrant camp known as the Jungle in Calais.

Unilever accused of profiteering over marmite shortage

UK supermarket giant Tesco is facing a shortage of some of the most famous brands on its shelves amid a row with its biggest supplier over Brexit.

Unilever is reported to be trying to raise prices of some products because it faces higher costs as Britain's pound has fallen against other currencies following the Brexit vote.

Brands including Marmite, Pot Noodles, Surf washing powder, Hellmann's mayonnaise and Ben & Jerry's ice cream are all out of stock in Tesco's online store.

Former boss of Greggs bakery chain, Sir Michael Darrington told London's LBC radio Unilever appears to be using Brexit as a chance to increase its profits.

Two teens on terror-related charges in Sydney
