Legal claims against UK soldiers to be outlawed

British Prime Minister Theresa May has said she will outlaw legal claims against soldiers serving in conflict zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan, describing them as "vexatious".

She says the government intends to suspend parts of the European Convention on Human Rights for troops serving in battle. From London, Catherine Drew reports.

Migrant rescue operations in the Mediterranean say they saved 6000 people in a single day

Figures just released show rescue operations in the mediterranean sea believe they saved over 6000 people in a single day on Monday.

Most were crammed onto flimsy boats which had left the Libyan coastline, trying to reach Italy.

The UK government is announcing plans to suspend parts of the European Convention on Human Rights during conflicts to protect British troops from legal claims.

UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon says the current system has been 'abused', with litigation coming from claims under the ECHR.

Troops will still be subject to a prohibition on torture, UK criminal law, the Geneva Conventions, and some parts of the ECHR.

Donald Trump says he's "brilliantly" used tax laws to his benefit and told American voters: "I'm working for you now".

This week the New York Times reported that Donald Trump might have used tax laws to avoid paying any tax for 18 years.
