US Congress overrides Pres. Obama veto on Saudi bill

Both chambers of the U.S. Congress have voted to override U.S. President Barack Obama's veto of what's called the 9/11 bill - Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act.

The legislation will allow the survivors of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks to sue Saudi Arabia, for it's alledged role in financing terrorism.

U.S. President Barack Obama vetoed the bill in part because it violates the concept of soverign immunity - that a person can only sue a government in limited circumstances.

U.S. State Department Spokesman John Kirby says they are disappointed by the votes and they hope to maintain decent relations with Riyadh.
