Duterte calls for US troop withdrawal from Philippines

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has called for the withdrawal of the US military from a southern island, fearing they could be targeted by Islamist militants.

Last week US President Barack Obama cancelled a meeting with Duterte because of controversial remarks made by the Filipino president.

Germany and France call on EU to deepen defense cooperation

Tanzania earthquake kills 20

At least 20 people have died in an earthquake in Tanzania measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale. Another 269 people were injured and many more homes have been destroyed. Our correspondent Lucy Taylor reports.

CLINTON CANCELS CALIFORNIA STOP AFTER ILLNESS

US Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has cancelled a campaign trip to California after being diagnosed with pneumonia.

The pneumonia diagnosis was revealed after Mrs Clinton left a 9/11 ceremony having been taken ill.

Her doctor's statement says she has been advised to 'rest and modify her schedule'.

It follows increasing scrutiny about the health of Hillary Clinton and her Republican rival Donald Trump ahead of November's election.

Campaign discloses Hillary Clinton diagnosed with pneumonia last Friday

Hillary Clinton has been diagnosed with pneumonia and has been ordered to rest by doctors.


The Democratic Presidential candidate had to leave a September 11th memorial service in New York earlier today, and appeared to collapse as she was being escorted away from the event.

To mark the 15th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, US President Barack Obama led a moment of silence from the White House before attending an observance ceremony at the Pentagon.


Fifteen years ago to the day, nearly three thousand people died in coordinated terror attacks in New York City, at the Pentagon, and when United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
