US condemns possible use of chlorine gas in Syria

Civilian rescue workers are accusing the government of Bashar al Assad of dropping barrel bombs full of chlorine on a suburb of Aleppo.

The Assad regime has denied the use of chlorine gas in the past, although two United Nations investigations have confirmed poison gas has been used in the past.

U.S. State Department deputy spokesman Mark Toner said the U.S. is investigating.

The U.S. and Russia were unable to reach an agreement that would lead to a cease-fire for Syria, but U.S. State Department deputy spokesman Mark Toner says Washington is still motivated despite the complicated situation.

UN Security Council condemns North Korea missile launch

The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned missile
launches carried out by North Korea at the weekend.

The Council threatened "further measures" if the country refused to

Trump talks foreign policy as new poll puts billionaire ahead of Clinton


Donald Trump discussed some of foreign policy ideas during a Town Hall event in Virginia, Tuesday.

He touched on the Iran nuclear deal, North Korea, and ISIS among other issues.

US-Philippines Ties Frayed by President Duterte's Offensive Language

The President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte has expressed regret for using offensive language to describe his US counterpart. 

Duterte referred to Barack Obama as a "son of a bitch", which led to the cancellation of an expected bilateral meeting between the two leaders.

President Duterte has pushed back against US human rights concerns following the killing of some 2,400 people since Duterte took office two months  ago, as part of his anti-drugs strategy.

US State Department Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner says such comments don't help the relationship....

Clinton talks tax returns and foundation during plane presser

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton once again called on her Republican rival Donald Trump to release his tax returns.

Clinton and her running mate Tim Kaine released their tax returns last month. Speaking to press on her plane, Hillary Clinton said she wouldn't stop raising the issue until Mr Trump followed suit.

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton says that her daughter Chelsea Clinton's involvement in the Clinton Foundation charity will be decided after the US election.

Clinton has come under increasing pressure to clarify what will happen to the Clinton Foundation if she becomes president.

Donald Trump has accused Mrs. Clinton of giving favourable treatment foundation donors when she was Secretary of State.

Speaking to press on her plane, Hillary Clinton says the foundation has always been transparent.

Another close encounter between Iranian and American ships in Gulf, officials confirm

A ship belonging to Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps sailed
dangerously close to US military ship in the central Gulf over the
weekend, US officials said. It comes just weeks after a similar
incident in the strait of Hormuz.

Moscow and Washington compete for influence in Uzbekistan

Newton slams into Mexico's Pacific coast

Hurricane Newton has slammed into the Mexican luxury resort town of Cabo San Lucas on the country's Pacific coast.

The storm made landfall packing winds of up to 90-miles-per-hour [140 kph], before moving inland where it's expected to dump as much as 12 inches [30 cms] of rain.

Fox News settles for $20m over sexual harassment allegations

21st Century Fox has agreed a twenty million dollar settlement with former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson, who sued then-chairman Roger Ailes alleging sexual harrassment. 

Mr Ailes resigned in the wake of the allegations, which he has always denied.

British MP steps down over male sex worker allegations

British MP Keith Vaz, a former Minster for Europe,  has stepped down from his role as chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, over allegations that he paid for two male sex workers.


The MP said in a statement that the Select Committee's integrity mattered and those who hold others to account must themselves be accountable.

The European Union is coming under fire after it's been revealed there will be limits to its much-celebrated end to phone roaming charges.

Phone users in the EU will only be able to roam free of charge for 90 days of the year.
