North Korea launches ballistic missile

North Korea has launched a missile from a submarine off the coast of
Japan, the Pentagon says. That's despite a United Nations ban against
its use of any ballistic missiles and comes jus as the world body's
nuclear watchdog said North Korea appeared to have resumed nuclear
activity earlier this year.

Peru Investigates Rogue Police "Death Squad"

Peruvian officials say there are strong indications a rogue group of police has executed at least 20 people extra-judicially.

Turkish Extradition Request for Gulen Not Related to Coup

President Obama visits flood-ravaged neighborhoods in Louisiana

President Obama traveled Tuesday to Louisiana, where severe rains have flooded some 20 parishes in what is being described as the worst natural disaster in the country since Hurricane Sandy hit in 2012. 

President Obama has been criticized for not visiting the area sooner.

UNICEF sees rise in child refugees fleeing Central America to US

Thousands of children from Central America continue to make their way to the United States to escape gang violence and deep poverty, at the risk of being kidnapped, trafficked, raped or killed along the way. 

In the first half of the year, 26 thousand unaccompanied children were apprehended at the US border, according to the UN's children agency.

UN pushes for ceasefire in Syria to allow humanitarian access in Aleppo

Russia loses Paralympics ban appeal
