US special forces on the ground in Libya

U.S. special forces are on the ground fighting the Islamic State in Libya.

Their efforts are focused around the town of Sirte, which has been bombed by the U.S. military as well.

Congolese government will not renew visa for prominent human rights activist

Benghazi parents sue Hillary Clinton

The parents of two Americans killed in the 2012 attack on the Libyan city of Benghazi have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Patricia Smith and Charles Woods, parents of Sean Smith and Tyrone Woods, claim that Clinton's use of a private email server contributed to the attacks.

Trump accused of encouraging violence against Hillary Clinton

Donald Trump is being accused of encouraging an assassination attempt against Hillary Clinton.

At a rally in North Carolina, he appeared to suggest that supporters of gun rights in the United States might take action to try and stop her from becoming the country's next President.

China 'militarizing' disputed South China Sea islands

Satellite photos taken in July show China appears to have built reinforced aircraft hangars on disputed islands in the South China Sea.

The images, taken by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, show the artificial enhanced reefs now have room for Chinese fighter jets.

The United States has repeatedly urged claimants not to militarize their holdings in the South China Sea.

States Department spokesperson Elizabeth Trudeau said all sides in the dispute should seek a diplomatic resolution.

Turkey and Russia strengthen economic ties

The leaders of Turkey and Russia have pledged to restore close economic ties, cooling months of angry rhetoric between the two nations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said trade sanctions on Turkey would be phased out.

The meeting in St Petersburg is Turkish President Recep Erdogan's first foreign visit since the failed coup of July 15.

The United States insists it isn't concerned its ally Turkey is strengthening ties with Russia.

Human Rights Watch Condemns US Arms Sale to Saudi Arabia

Human Rights Watch is condemning a decision by the United States to approve the  sale of 130 battle tanks and other equipment to Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi-led coalition has scaled up its military campaign in Yemen, leading to multiple civilian casualties in bombing raids.

Clinton campaign says Hillary unaware Orlando nightclub killer's father attended rally
