Several people have been arrested in the UK after Black Lives Matter protests.

Organisers say as movement is needed in Britain similar to that which has grown in the US after a series of police killings of black people.

Brazilian athletes not drug tested ahead of Olympics

Brazil's sports ministry has confirmed that their athletes were not
drug tested for nearly a month in the lead up to the Rio Olympics.

Doping scandals have largely overshadowed the buildup to the games and
the World Anti-Doping Agency say they are concerned by these
developments.

Lowell Goddard Steps Down From Child Sexual Abuse Inquiry

New Zealand High Court judge Dame Lowell Goddard has become the third person to quit as head of a UK independent inquiry into child sexual abuse.


Justice Goddard has not given a full explanation of why she decided to stand down, but her resignation comes after she faced criticism over her pay and the amount of time she has spent abroad since taking up the role.

French protesters flood town with wine

Protesters in the south of France flooded the streets of one town with thousands of litres of red wine on Thursday  - forcing emergency services to bail it out.
The protesters in the town of Sete cracked open vats of wine because they're angry at cheap imports.

Merkel’s poll numbers drop sharply

German chancellor Angela Merkel's domestic popularity has dropped significantly in recent days according to a new poll. 

Several incidents in the past month have raised questions about her open-door refugee policy.

NISSAN 'OPTIMISTIC' ABOUT BREXIT

The boss of Renault-Nissan says he won't make major decisions on its investments in the UK until the outcome of Brexit negotiations is clear.

Carlos Ghosn (PRON: GO-SEN) has told British media plans for Nissan's plant in Sunderland in the north of England will have to wait until that point.

The car maker had warned before the vote that it would reconsider its British investments if the UK chose to leave the EU.

However, Laith Khalaf of stockbroker Hargreaves Lansdown, says Mr Ghosn is sounding a positive note about the future.

UK: ABUSE INQUIRY TO CONTINUE 'WITHOUT DELAY'

The UK government says Britain's inquiry into child sexual abuse will press ahead 'without delay' despite the resignation of its chair Dame Lowell Goddard.

The New Zealand High Court judge has stepped down after UK media reports that she'd spent over 70 days working abroad or on holiday during her tenure.

The inquiry was launched in 2015 to look into child abuse claims made against private and public institutions.

NZ Judge says legacy of failure for child sex abuse inquiry has been hard to shake


Dame Lowell Goddard, the New Zealand judge who was appointed to lead Britain's independent inquiry into historic child sex abuse allegations has resigned from the post, saying the inquiry's legacy of failure had been hard to shake off.

In a statement Justice Goddard said she was confident there had been achievements and real gains for child sex abuse victims.

Pentagon says 33 US servicemen and women have contracted Zika abroad

The Pentagon has announced that over 30 of US servicemen and women
have contracted Zika.

Trump makes blatantly false claims in latest rally speech

Donald Trump has made more spurious claims on America's campaign trail, further worrying Republicans who now fear his Presidential bid is doomed.


He told a rally in Maine that he had seen a videotape showing 400 million dollars in cash being delivered to the Iranian government….even though no such tape is believed to exist.
