Venezuelan Opposition Leaders Pressure Electoral Board

The Venezuelan opposition putting pressure on the country’s Electoral Board to  move forward with the next steps to recall President Nicolas Maduro. 

On Monday the Board confirmed enough signatures on the recall petition had been validated, but the Board did not set a date for the next step of the lengthy recall process.

30 victims reported in suspected chlorine gas attack in Syria

Barrel bombs full of chlorine gas are suspected in an attack on a town in Idlib province Syria.

A doctor in the town confirmed 28 cases of chlorine gas poisoning, saying it's happened before and he's familiar with the symptoms

At the United Nations, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said he was "deeply disturbed by the ongoing destruction," particularly of medical facilities in Syria.

US Military Strikes Kill al-Qaeda Operatives in Yemen

The United States military has revealed it carried out two strikes in Yemen last month which killed seven al-Qaeda operatives.

A Pentagon spokesman told reporters al-Qaeda is using the unrest in Yemen to provide a haven for planning future attacks.

Wikileaks emails force resignation of another Democrat party official

The Chief Executive Officer for the Democratic National Party has resigned, following the publication of some 20,000 party emails on Wikileaks.

Her resignation comes on the heels of the departure of the party chair just hours before the convention got underway in Philadelphia.

He made the promise during a press conference with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien-Loong.

The Prime Minister said earlier, failure to enact the TPP would hurt America's credibility.

UK GOVT WINS REFUGEE RULING

The British government has won a landmark legal ruling likely to make it harder for refugee children to come to the UK.

Britain's Home Office was challenging a decision which had allowed four Syrian refugees at the Calais Jungle camp in France to travel to the UK before making an asylum application.

FBI Employee Pleads Guilty to Acting As Chinese Agent

An electronics technician for the FBI has pleaded guilty to acting as an 'agent of the Chinese government'.

Kun Shan Chun, also known as Joey Chun, admitted to a federal court in Manhattan that he passed sensitive information to a Chinese official.

China has issued a warning to the UK about 'unwanted accusations' over the motive behind its investments in the country.

Russia teams for Rio to be decided by 2 August - Sports Minister Mutko

Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko says all decisions about the participation of Russian sportspeople in Rio Olympics would be made by Tuesday.  It comes after the IOC set up a three-member panel who is reviewing decisions taken by the international federations to clear Russian sportspeople.
