Zika Spurs Travel Warning For Pregnant Women in Miami

Pregnant women have been warned not to travel to a Zika affected part
of Miami, Florida after 14 cases of the virus were identified in the
US state over the weekend. The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention issued the travel notice, which also recommends that
pregnant women who have traveled to the city's downtown area get
tested.

Massive Wildfire Threatens California's Big Sur

A massive wildfire fire burning along California’s coast is threatening thousands of homes near near Big Sur. 
The US forest service says the fire could rage for another month.

Trump claims US Presidential election "is going to be rigged"

Donald Trump says he's worried America's Presidential election might be "rigged".


He told an audience in Ohio that he believes Hillary Clinton rigged the outcome of her primary contest against Senator Bernie Sanders, and by inference suggested she might do the same this November.

Pres. Obama defends Gold Star families

U.S. President Barack Obama has expressed his support for the Khan family and other "Gold Star" families who lost a child to war.

His words come as Donald Trump tries to change the subject after he attacked the family.

Following on his speech at the 2016 Democratic Party Convention, Khizr Khan and his wife Ghalaza have made a series of media appearances, to reiterate their point that Donald Trump is ignorant and unfit to hold the nation's highest office.

They are considered a Gold Star family because they lost their son, a U.S. solidier in 2004 during military operations in Iraq.

To the conference of Disabled American Veterans, President Obama said Gold Star families make one of the greatest sacrifices.

US launches air strikes against ISIS in Libya


The U.S Department of Defense has confirmed it has launched a new round of airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Libya. 

According to Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook, Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA)  requested the airstrikes in Sirte which is an ISIS stronghold along the Libyan coast.

With significant support from American forces, Syria Democratic Forces have made significant progress is retaking Manbij, Syria from the Islamic State.

Russian helicopter downed in rebel-held Idlib province

Australian Royal Commission steps down over conflict of interest claims

A royal commission into child abuse in Australia's Northern Territory detention centres would be a waste of time without the backing of indigenous people, according to a former senator.
