Hillary Clinton may not win - Pres. Obama

U.S. President Barack Obama says it is possible fellow Democrat and one-time rival Hillary Clinton will not win the White House.

He said that in a democracy, results can be surprising, especially when not enough voters participate in elections.

In an interview with NBC News's Today breakfast programme's Savannah Guthrie, President Obama said anything is possible.

US intelligence convinced Russia behind Democrats email hack

American intelligence sources are increasingly convinced that Russia is behind the hacking of the Democratic National Committee's email.

But officials told the New York Times, they aren't certain of the motive.

'Ice Bucket' fundraiser leads to ALS breakthrough


The Ice Bucket Challenge that swept the United States in 2014 has led to an important discovery in research into ALS, Also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

The ALS Association announced Wednesday that the social media campaign which saw people drenched in ice water raised 115-million dollars in just two months in the U.S.

Fireman Sam episode pulled amid Koran controversy

An episode of a children's animated TV show has been withdrawn by a British broadcaster after it appears to show a character tread on a page from the Koran. 

Production firm HIT entertainment has confirmed that as a character from "Fireman Sam" is shown slipping on a pile of papers which fly up into the air, during which a page from the Koran is briefly seen.   From London, Catherine Drew reports.

UK economy grew 0.6% in lead-up to Brexit

The UK economy grew 0.6% during the second quarter of 2016, according to official figures.

Estimates from the Office for National Statistics show growth in gross domestic product was stronger than expected during the three month period which spanned the build-up to Britain's EU Referendum and its subsequent vote for a Brexit.

Rouen church attacker was on probation and wearing tag

One of the attackers who killed a priest on Tuesday morning in St-Etienne-du-Rouvray was on probation and wearing an electronic tag - raising fresh questions for the French justice system.
Adel Kermiche had been released in March, having twice tried to travel to Syria.

HOLLANDE MEETS FAITH LEADERS

French President Francois Hollande has been meeting with Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Buddhist leaders in Paris after the murder of a priest in Normandy on Tuesday.

The attack in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray saw 84 year-old Father Jacques Hamel targeted as he conducted morning mass.

The two attackers who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group were killed by police.

One of them was well known to authorities and had been wearing an electronic surveillance tag.

Putin to meet depleted Russian team ahead of Rio Games

Clinton wins nomination, and Bill reintroduces her to voters

Hillary Clinton has been formally nominated the Democratic Party's Presidential candidate, and will now be the first woman to lead one of America's major political parties in the race for the White House.


She'll accept the nomination in a speech on Thursday night.


Die-hard supporters of Senator Bernie Sanders walked out of the Convention and took part in a spontaneous protest following Mrs. Clinton's victory.

Turkey crestfallen over lack of US support for Gulen extradition
