IOC clears way for Russia to participate in Rio Games

LEAD:


The International Olympic Committee has decided to allow the Russian National Team to participate in this summer's Olympic Games in Rio.  The athletes wishing to compete in Rio will have to fulfil a strict criteria.  The decision was met with relief in Moscow which says it will restructure its anti-doping system.  Julia Lyubova reports from Moscow.

FRENCH DELAYS CONTINUE AT DOVER

British holidaymakers and businesses have been warned to expect disruption for days after massive queues built up of people trying to get to France.

Some motorists were stuck in 14 hour traffic jams heading to the port of Dover, as extra security checks were put in place.

Holiday and business travelers have been urged to find alternative routes where possible.

Queues have eased since the worst delays on Friday and Saturday but serious disruption continues.

Hillary Clinton makes first appearance with Tim Kaine

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has made her first joint appearance with her running mate, Tim Kaine.

The Virginia Senator appeared with Clinton in Miami on Saturday, where he was widely praised for a speech in which he spoke in fluent Spanish several times.

US markets week ahead

Germany considers tighter gun laws after Munich shootings

The shootings in Munich have prompted senior politicians in Germany to call for tighter laws on guns.

18 year old Ali David Sonboly killed 9 people and injured 27 more during a rampage at a shopping mall in the Bavarian capital on Friday evening.

Democrats Prepare for Convention in Philadelphia

The US Democratic Party is preparing to hold its Convention in the east coast city of Philadelphia this coming week. 

The four day long event kicks off on Monday, and is set to culminate with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton accepting the party’s nomination to run for the White House.

Munich begins to return to normal

German police are investigating whether the German-Iranian who killed 9 at a Munich shopping mall was obsessed with Anders Breivik.

Four years ago, Breivik detonated a bomb in Oslo before killed 69 at a summer camp in Norway.

Police: Munich attacker obsessed with mass shootings

Police have described the gunman in Munich who killed nine people on Friday as obsessed with mass shootings and have found no links to any terror groups.

Eight of the nine victims were between the ages of fourteen and twenty one.

Police in Munich have said they believe an 18 year-old German-Iranian national killed at least nine people near a shopping mall before killing himself and that he acted alone.

Munich on Lockdown After Shopping Center Shooting

The city of Munich is under a virtual lockdown, after nine people died in a shooting at a shopping center. 

Restaurants and other businesses are closed and public transit has shut down.

American student Jack Berrigan lives just a couple of blocks away from the shopping center where the shootings took place. He says police told residents  to stay inside.

Former KKK leader announces Senate run

The former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke has announced that he's running for U.S. Senate in the state of Louisiana.

Duke, who's infamous for his white supremacist beliefs, has previously served one term as a Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives.

3 Gunman on the Run, 5 Dead in Munich Terrorist Attack

Police in Munich say at least five people have been killed in a terrorist shooting incident in a shopping area.

They are now searching for three gunmen.

Witnesses say were carrying long rifles and there are reports of incidents at other locations.

A mobile phone video has emerged of a man opening fire on a street outside a McDonalds restaurant.

Multiple shootings have been reported at a shopping centre in Munich Germany on Friday.

Police have yet to confirm casualties or whether any arrests have been made.

Police in Munich are trying to secure a shopping mall folowing reports of a shooting.  

While no injuries have been confirmed, some German media report police expect multiple casualties.

Friday's attack comes a week after a 17-year-old asylum-seeker wounded passengers on a German train in an ax rampage inspired by Islamic State.

Turkey condemns others for possible support of coup

Turkey's deputy prime minister has criticized the country's allies for what he regards as only half-hearted condemnation of last week's attempted coup.

In an interview with the BBC, he said that the 60,000 arrests, detentions and suspensions are only the tip of the iceberg.

He says state institutions have been infiltrated, especially by supporters of the self-exiled Turkish  leader Fethullah Gulen who strongly denies any involvement.
