Russian government 'oversaw' athlete doping

The Russian government has systematically covered up doping across a range of sports since 2011, according to a report by the World Anti Doping Agency.

The report describes how the country's Ministry of Sport 'directed, controlled and oversaw' the scandal which involved athlete's clean urine samples being frozen and switched for doped urine.

The investigation was commissioned following claims made by the former director of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory, Dr Grigory Rodchenkov.

Canadian lawyer Richard McLaren who led the commission described how the samples of Russian athletes competing in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics had been tampered with.
