5 officers dead in Dallas shooting

Five officers with Dallas Texas area law enforcement agencies are dead after snipers targeted a protest march.

This latest round of violence - now against the police - has been roundly condemned including by U.S. President Barack Obama speaking at the NATO summit in Warsaw.

UK to deploy hundreds of troops to Poland and Estonia

The UK is to send hundreds of troops to Poland and Estonia in a bid to deter Russia from further aggression...

The deployment is part of a Nato commitment to bolster troops on Europe's eastern flank following Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014.

US President Barack Obama says the fatal shooting of five police officers in Dallas was a "vicious, calculated and despicable" attack...

Six other officers were wounded while policing protests following the deaths of two black men - Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana.

Three people are in custody and one man who was involved in a shoot-off with officers shot himself dead.

Court sentences two over Cologne sex attacks

A German court has found two men guilty of sexual assault, the first convictions stemming from a series of New Year's Eve attacks in the city of Cologne.

The verdict came shortly after Germany amended its sexual assault laws, largely as a result of the Cologne attacks.

5 police officers have been killed by sniper fire in Dallas, following protests against a spate of shootings by US police of black men.

6 other police officers were wounded in the attacks.

Three people have been arrested and police have been involved in a standoff with a further armed man.

Dallas police say they believe the suspects were working together to attack officers while the demonstration was underway.

Protests were taking place after the deaths of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown says the suspect involved in the standoff has warned there may be bombs placed in several locations in the city.

Bill Cosby Loses Latest Bid to Have Charges Dismissed

Actor and Comedian Bill Cosby has lost another bid to get criminal sexual-assault charges against him dismissed. 
A judge in Pennsylvania has ruled there is enough evidence to try Cosby even though he was unable to cross-examine his accuser at a preliminary hearing.

Britain's new PM will be a woman after Conservative leadership vote

Britain's next Prime Minister will be a woman after MPs voting in the Conservative Party leadership race eliminated the final man from the ballot. 

Home Secretary Theresa May and Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom will be the choice for 150 000 Conservative members. 

The new party leader and Prime Minister is due to be revealed by September 9th.
