UNIONS: LABOUR DEAL IS POSSIBLE

The UK's trade union leaders say they can broker a peace deal within the divided opposition Labour Party.

It comes after dozens of Labour MPs voted in favour of a no confidence motion in leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Mr Corbyn has vowed to fight on, saying he has the support of the party's membership.

But Christopher Hope of the Telegraph newspaper says there is the chance of a deal which would see Jeremy Corbyn step aside..

But it's likely to come after Britain's Iraq Inquiry releases its report on the war on Wednesday.

LEGAL ACTION OVER BREXIT PROCESS

Legal action is being launched to try and stop Britain beginning the process of leaving the EU, without a new act of Parliament.

Law firm Mischon de Reya says it is acting on behalf of a group of academics and business leaders.

It believes it would be unlawful for a UK Prime Minister to trigger the Article 50 process which leads to a Brexit, without putting it to a parliamentary vote.

This after Britain voted to leave the European Union in a referendum last month.

Political reporter Theo Usherwood says Mischon de Reya's case has a technical point.
