Obama says Orlando shooting was "homegrown extremism"

US President Barack Obama says both extremist views and too-easy access to guns played a role in the deadly Orlando shooting.

Mr Obama said that, although alleged gunman Omar Mateen declared allegiance to the Islamic State, there is no clear evidence that he was directed by any foreign group or was part of a larger plot.

The President said the massacre, which has claimed 49 victims so far, was a devastating attack on all Americans.
