Millions more cars recalled over airbag deaths

US confirms special forces may be wearing Kurdish insignia

The U.S. military is confirming that special forces operating in Syria may be wearing the insignia of Kurdish groups, including the YPG.

Turkey issued a protest after a photographer took pictures of American special forces wearing the green patches of a Kurdish militia not far from Raqqa in Syria.

U.N. urges Greece to improve poor living conditions for refugees

The UN refugee agency has criticised the "sub-standard conditions" at refugee sites in Greece and has urged authorities to improve the facilities quickly.

The news comes one day after more than four thousand refugees were rescued from the Mediterranean Sea by the Italian Coastguard.

LONDON 2012 ATHLETES FAIL TESTS

Athletes from six different countries who competed in the London 2012 Olympics have failed retrospective doping tests, according to the International Olympic Committee.

The retests were carried out using the latest scientific methods on samples from the 2008 Beijing Games and from the 2012 London Games.

UK TO SEND EXTRA SUPPORT FOR LIBYA

The British government is preparing to send a Royal Navy warship to the Mediterranean to help tackle arms smuggling in Libya. 

UK Prime Minister David Cameron made the announcement at the G7 summit in Japan, saying the UK was ready to take an 'active leadership role' in helping Libya deal with people trafficking and its migration crisis.

Obama Makes Historic Hiroshima Visit


US President Barack Obama has laid a wreath at the site in Hiroshima where America dropped the world's first atomic bomb, in 1945.

Mr. Obama also met survivors of the attack, which killed at least 140,000 people  - but did not apologise for the bombing.

Ahead of Putin’s Greece visit G7 agree to extend Russia sactions in June

German police hunt British neo-Nazis

German police are investigating two men from a British neo-Nazi group of publishing an offensive photo from the Buchenwald (BOO KIN VALD) concentration camp.

If found, the men could face up to three years in prison as a result of Germany's strict laws against Nazi symbols.

G7 WARNS AGAINST BREXIT

The G7 meeting in Japan has concluded with a declaration urging Britain to stay in the EU.

The final statement at the summit of leading developed economies warns that if the UK leaves the EU it will reverse a trend towards increased global trade, jobs and investment.

Britain votes on its European Union membership in a referendum on 23rd June.

FRANCE STANDOFF CONTINUES

There's no sign of a standoff ending between French unions and the government over labour reforms.

On Thursday dozens of arrests were made in Paris and other cities as protesters took to the streets.

Strikes have affected nuclear power production, transport hubs, and roads and bridges have been blockaded.

The government has suggested it could modify its reform proposals, but insists it won't back down.

Peter Allen in Paris says the situation could get worse before it gets better.

The UN envoy for Syria says there are no immediate plans to resume peace talks over the next few weeks as violence persists on the ground.

MAN UNITED AGREE DEAL WITH MOURINHO

Manchester United have agreed a deal to bring Jose Mourinho to the club as manager.

He'll succeed Louis Van Gaal who was fired despite winning the FA Cup at the weekend.

Portuguese Mourinho, former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach, had been linked to Old Trafford throughout the latter part of the English Premier League season.

And the Man United board eventually moved to remove Van Gaal in favour of Mourinho because of the failure to qualify for next season's Champions League, and because the style of play seen this season was not deemed attacking enough.

An official announcement is expected on Friday.
