Syrian forces say no immediate plans to retake Raqqa from ISIS


US-backed Syrian fighters have no immediate plans to recapture the city of Raqqa from the Islamic State group, even though an offensive is underway in the north of the city. 


The announcement has put to rest speculation that a major offensive was imminent.

President Obama's diplomatic visit to Japan sullied after PM Abe criticizes US

Ukraine and Russia confirm prisoner swap

Ukrainian military pilot Nadiya Shavchenko seen by many as a national
hero has returned to Kiev after a prisoner swap was agreed with
Russia.

In exchange Russian nationals Yevgeny Yerofeyev and Alexander

1 in 5 UK couples close to splitting up

A new report from an organization specializing in couples counseling says one in five couples in the UK are close to breaking up. 

The British charity Relate spoke to nearly 21 thousand people and found that a significant percentage argue regularly and consider separating.   From London, Catherine Drew reports.

Brexit could mean further austerity cuts for UK, IFS warns

The UK could face at least another two years of austerity if it votes to leave the European Union in June.

That's the latest warning from a new report by the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

While Vote Leave insists the UK would save money in EU membership fees, the IFS says a Brexit would have a negative impact on the UK economy and would result in years of further cuts.

Two Russians pardoned by Ukrainian President to advance Savchenko swap

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko pardoned two Russian special forces officers convicted of terrorism and murder in April this year. Russian officials confidence of 4% economic growth within 2-3 years

An aide to Russia's President Vladimir Putin says economic growth is
possible for the country within two to three years.

It's a positive sign for an economy that has been hit hard by the drop

The pre-trial hearing heard evidence from Cosby's accuser, Andrea Constand, who claims the actor assaulted her after drugging her with three pills.

Samples from 2008 Olympics showed positive results for 14 Russian athletes

The International Olympic Committee has informed the Russian Olympic Committee that 14 Russian athletes are suspected of using doping at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.  Russian media has named the athletes whose samples taken at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing had illegal drugs in them.
