Obama Raises Human Rights, Maritime Disputes in Vietnam Speech

US President Barack Obama has spoken of the need to uphold human rights and resolve maritime disputes peacefully, during remarks to the Vietnamese people in the capital Hanoi.

He was speaking the day after lifting a US embargo on arms sales to Vietnam, which has led to a warning from China about not stoking regional tensions.

Taliban selecting new leader to succeed Mansour

While President Barack Obama called this weekend's death of Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Mansour a milestone that paves the way for ending the Afghan conflict, the Taliban's leadership was meeting to choose a successor.

Pakistan protests following airstrike

US Lifts Embargo On Arms Sales To Vietnam

The US has lifted a decades-long arms embargo on Vietnam, during President Obama's trip to the capital Hanoi.

Mr. Obama's the third American president to visit the capital since the US war with Vietnam ended in 1975, and said the removal of the embargo removed a 'lingering vestige of the Cold War'.
