Russia downplays fresh doping allegations

The CBS News' show "60 Minutes" aired an investigation on Russian sports alleging top Russian athletes and Olympic medalists were involved in doping during 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Russian Sports Ministry denied allegations as part of "information attack" on Russia while the World Anti-Doping Agency pledged to look into this "very disturbing" media report. US government sued by North Carolina over 'Transgender-bathroom law'

US State North Carolina is suing the federal government after the Justice Department tried to make the state drop its so-called "bathroom law."

North Carolina is facing a deadline over the controversial law, introduced earlier this year, which requires transgender people to use public facilities based on the gender on their birth certificate.

Belgian Dispatch Center Refused to Send Extra Help After Brussels Attacks

Despite repeated requests for more medics and ambulances, an emergency dispatch center refused to send extra help after two suicide bombers blew themselves up at Brussels' Zaventem Airport.

That's according to a government investigation into how authorities responded to the attacks that took place on the morning of March the 22nd.

Win in NYC Keeps New Zealand in America's Cup Lead

Emirates Team New Zealand snatched a dramatic victory on Sunday, in the latest battle to decide who'll face defending champions the US in next year's America's Cup yachting competition.

This weekend saw the contest return to its original home, New York City, for the first time since 1920 - as part of series of races that sees five teams vie for a spot in the main event in Bermuda next year.

After a tricky beginning when they earned a penalty for crossing the start line early, the Kiwis roared from last to first place, ahead of hosts Oracle Team USA, to take the regatta with 52 points.

Skipper Glenn Ashby said some skilful positioning meant they were able to ride a sudden breeze and roar to the finish line, giving onlookers a great spectacle:

Huge Canadian wildfire expands

Reports of Sexual Assault Rising Sharply on US College Campuses

American students in their final year of high school are in the process of finding out which colleges have accepted their applications, and deciding which one they’ll attend.

But a new study shows the number of forcible sex crimes reported on U.S. college and university campuses more than doubled to 5,000 between 2001 and 2013.

The report, from the National Centre for Education Statistics, along with the Bureau of Justice Statistics, also showed that sex crimes increased by nearly 1000 from 2012 to 2013 alone.

Disabled athletes compete in second Invictus Games

The second Invictus Games are underway in Orlando [Note: Opening ceremony begins 00:00 GMT Sunday/Monday. Competition already underway].

More than 500 injured military veterans are participating this year from 14 countries, including the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan and other allied nations.

The Games are the brainchild of Britain's Prince Harry.
