Fans mourn passing of Prince

Fans across the world are mourning following the death of music giant Prince.

He died suddenly at the age of 57 in his home state of Minnesota.

Prince sold over 100 million albums worldwide during his career, which spanned decades and crossed genres.

Volkswagen to Buy Back U. S. Cars in Diesel Emissions Deal

Volkswagen will offer substantial compensation and car buy back deals in the US as part of a settlement in the diesel emissions scandal. 

A federal judge in San Francisco had given VW  and regulators until today to reach a deal in principle.

OBAMA VISITS UK TO MAKE EU CASE



US President Barack Obama arrives in the UK later (Thursday 2100G approx) / has arrived in the UK (amend as required) and is expected to make the case for Britain staying in the European Union.

British Prime Minister David Cameron hopes President Obama will help swing undecided voters towards the REMAIN camp, but those in favour of BREXIT are angry at the prospect of a US intervention.

President Obama will also lunch with Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and be entertained later by Princes William and Harry along with the Duchess of Cambridge.

UN Expert: Paris Climate Deal Falls Short of Curbing Climate Change

A UN special envoy on human rights and the environment has said that the Paris Climate Agreement may still fall short of actually curbing global climate change.

John Knox said that while the deal is an historic step in the right direction, the commitments made by world leaders still don't do enough.

European Central Bank keeps interest rates unchanged at 0%

The European Central Bank has kept interest rates at record lows as it waits to see if economic stimulus measures announced in March. 

The monthly council of the ECB meeting in Frankfurt has made very few changes to its program which includes 90 billion dollars per month of government bond buying.

Significantly, the ECB president Mario Draghi insisted they have no discussed so called "Helicopter money" which would see the central bank injecting cash into the real economy for the first time ever.

Interest rates in the Eurozone remain at zero and the ECB has kept the rate it costs banks to park their money in the central bank at minus nought point four percent to encourage banks to invest in business.

All the measures are intended to tackle weak growth and low inflation in the eurozone.

VW Deal With US Over Defective Vehicles


German carmaker Volkswagen has struck a deal with US officials over its diesel vehicles found to have environmental defects.


VW cars sold in the US were found to have been fitted with a device which could detect when the car's emissions were being tested and allowed them to change emission results.
