IMF launches new measures to clampdown on tax avoidance

The International Monetary Fund is to launch a new information sharing plan as part of a renewed push to clampdown on global tax avoidance.

Criminal investigation launched in UK after "drone" strikes British Airways jet

A criminal investigation has been launched in Britain after a suspected drone hit a commercial airliner that was on its descent into London's Heathrow Airport.

Stage set for tough talks between Obama and Saudis, Gulf leaders

US President Obama will travel to Saudi Arabia, Britain and Germany this week for a series of meetings that will focus on the battle against Islamic extremism.

He’ll start in Riyadh for a summit meeting with Gulf leaders.

Remains of "extraordinarily well-preserved" Roman villa found accidentally in Britain

Remains of one of the largest Roman villas ever unearthed in Britain have been accidentally discovered in the southern county of Wiltshire.


Workmen were laying an electricity cable underneath a back garden when they dug up some pieces of mosaic.


Archeologists now say the find is among the most significant ever made in the UK, and they call the 1800-year old site extraordinarily well preserved.

Death toll in Ecuador quake raised to 235, expected to go higher

The death toll in Ecuador has risen to 235 after a 7-point-8 magnitude earthquake struck the northwest of the country on Saturday.

Officials say the death toll is likely to go higher, as rescue efforts continue in a bid to reach the worst hit areas.

The country's President, Rafael Correa, declared a state of emergency and cut short a visit to Europe in order to take charge of the response to the disaster.
