UK LABOUR LEADER ENTERS EU CAMPAIGN

The case for Britain to stay in the European Union is being set out (Thursday) by opposition Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn.

He says there is a 'socialist case' for remaining an EU member, and points to the environmental protections and workers' rights the bloc offers.

However, his critics suggest his support for the EU is 'lukewarm' and he is known to have in the past supported Britain leaving Europe because of its lack of democratic accountability and tendency towards deregulation.

Political reporter Theo Usherwood says Mr Corbyn's enthusiasm for the EU remains in doubt.
