Obama condemns Brussels attack in Havana speech

President Obama has condemned the attacks in Brussels and called for the world to unite in rejecting terrorism.

He spoke in Cuba where he's wrapping his historic visit to Havana.

Belgium announces 3 days of mourning

Belgium has announced 3 days of mourning following a series of deadly terror attacks on the capital Brussels.   At least 34 people have died in the attacks and many more have been injured.   Belgium has now raised its terror threat level to the highest point amid concerns that further attacks might be planned.

Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko given 22-year sentence

A Russian court sentenced Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko to 22 years in jail after finding her guilty of complicity in the killing of two Russian journalists during the separatist conflict in eastern Ukraine.  Savchenko denies all the charges and her case has received international criticism.  Julia Lyubova reports from Moscow.

Hillary Clinton responds to Brussels terror attacks, calls for 'honest reckoning'

She added that American continued to stand in solidarity with its European allies.

TERROR EXPERTS: No pattern for terror attacks, extremists constantly shifting tactics


At least 30 people are dead and scores injured following Tuesday's multiple terror attacks in Brussels.

Belgian media are reporting that at least one suicide bomber was involved in attack on the main international airport and that a Kalashnikov rifle and an undetonated explosive belt was found at the scene.

Cameron condemns Brussels attack

British Prime Minister David Cameron has condemned the terror attacks in Brussels as appalling and savage and  said  they could just have easily happened in London. 

Following a COBRA meeting of senior security officials, David Cameron said European countries need to stand together in the face of terrorism and he offered any assistance Belgium might need to deal with the tragedy. 

Many people have died in the attacks at the airport in Brussels and a separate explosion at a metro station in the city.

British Prime Minister David Cameron expressed his sympathy to the Belgian people.

Terror attacks cause transport chaos

The terror attacks in Brussels have caused transport chaos across a wide area.  Belgian has closed down the capital's transport network and is advising people to stay home.  Flights and trains due to travel to Brussels have been suspended. 

In the UK, police have been drafted in to provide additional security at busy areas and transport hubs.   The British Home Office has announced additional security measures including searches at both it's border with France and Belgium.   The Eurostar train service between the UK and Brussels has been temporarily closed.

25 people feared dead after deadly attacks in Brussels

It's feared as many as 25 people have been killed following twin terror attacks at Zaventem airport in the Belgian capital Brussels.   Dozens of people have been injured in the attack which occurred around 8 o' clock in the morning local time. 

An hour later there was an explosion at Maelbeek metro station.   

Belgian in on the highest state of alert and the entire transport system in Brussels has been closed down.   

The attacks come four days after the arrest of Paris bombing suspect Salah Abdeslam, who was seized in Brussels.

At least 13 dead after series of attacks in Brussels

Belgium authorities say there have been at least 13 have died in a series of attacks on the capital Brussels.    The metro system has been closed after an explosion at the Maelbeek station.

Iran is Trump's top foreign policy priority

Obama, Castro speak publicly on historic trip

US President Barack Obama and Cuban President Raul Castro are welcoming the historic change in the relationship between their nations, at a press conference during Mr. Obama's visit to Havana.

However, both leaders called on the other to make changes, with President Castro requesting the closure of Guantanamo Bay prison, and President Obama saying Cuba needs to improve its human rights record.

The ongoing trade embargo also topped the agenda. Both leaders agreed progress is stalled until the blockade is lifted, but Mr. Obama says it's up to the US Congress make that happen- and they likely won't get it done until a new president is in office.
