Obama Expected to Remove South African Trade Threat

President Barack Obama is expected to lift the threat of removing South Africa from trade benefits under the AGOA scheme.

The US says it's normalizing trade ties after a 300 metric tonne shipment of chicken passed through South African customs.

White House: New Sanctions Will Target N. Korean Elite

The U.N. Security Council has unanimously approved a set of tough sanctions against North Korea in response to its recent nuclear and missile tests.

The sanctions were drafted jointly by the United States and China, North Korea's closest ally.

Among the requirements is that all cargo ships and aircraft be inspected before entering or leaving the country.  

White House Spokesman Josh Earnest says the  range of new sanctions and  the international coordination should  have an impact...

Romney to make statement on Republican Presidential campaign

Former US Presidential candidate Mitt Romney is preparing a possible intervention in the 2016 race for the Republican party's nomination.


Mr. Romney has been an outspoken critic of front-runner Donald Trump, and he's due to address reporters on Thursday in the United States.


The move comes amid growing concern among Republican party grandees about Mr. Trump's rise.

United Nations adopt fresh sanctions on North Korea

The United Nations Security Council has unanimously adopted a fresh
round of sanctions on North Korea.

It's a response to Pyongyang's nuclear test on January 6th and the UN

FORMER EPL PLAYER FOUND GUILTY OF CHILD SEX CHARGE

Former English Premier League footballer Adam Johnson has been found guilty of sexual activity with a 15 year-old girl.

The former Sunderland and England player had admitted grooming and kissing the girl at the start of his trial - but denied two further counts.

A jury found him guilty of one and not guilty of the other.

Mexican Drug Lord requests extradition to the United States

Russian prosecutors call for 23 years in jail for Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko

Prosecutors in Russia have called for a 23 year jail sentence for the Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko who is accused of involvement in the deaths of two Russian journalists in East Ukraine.

The closing statements in Savchenko's trial are underway and a verdict is expected to come soon.

American astronaut returns to earth after record-breaking orbit


American astronaut Scott Kelly is finally back on Earth after spending nearly a year living aboard the International Space Station.

Uzbek woman who severed child's head appears in court

Ukrainian pilot charged by Russia threatens hunger strike
