UN Security Council to vote on toughest sanctions against DPRK

The United Nations Security Council is slated to vote Wednesday on a resolution to punish North Korea for its latest nuclear and missile tests.

The joint US-China draft resolution aims to impose severe new trade restrictions and expand on existing sanctions.

If adopted, this would be the fifth round of UN sanctions imposed on North Korea, and the toughest by far.

Calais refugees stage anti-eviction protest

Migrants and refugees at the camp in Calais have staged a sit-in protest in an attempt to disrupt police efforts to evict them.

Al Qaeda documents reveal determined but diminished group - reports

The latest set of documents declassified by American intelligence agencies reveal an Al Qaeda that was diminished in strength but still determined to carry out terrorist attacks.

Ousted Ukrainian president Yanukovych planning return to Ukraine

Ukraine's ousted president Viktor Yanukovych (PRON: Yan-Oo-Ko-Vitch) is seeking to return to the country and serve as its leader once again - according to his lawyer.

Victor Yanukovych fled Ukraine to Russia in February 2014 after an uprising in Kiev turned violent and over 100 people were killed.

Bookseller Lee Bo Gives Televised Interview

A bookseller who went missing from Hong Kong has appeared on Chinese television claiming that he had not been abducted.


Lee Bo is one of five men involved in the publishing or sale of literature critical of China's leaders. Many believe his television interview was done under duress.

US embassy urges Iraqis to evacuate ahead of dam collapse

The largest dam in Iraq is in danger of collapse, according to
officials from the US embassy in Iraq.

The Mosul dam was briefly seized by ISIS last year, and there are
fears that if it bursts, the flooding could kill nearly 1 and a half
million people.

Tech Companies Unite To Support Apple Inc.

Several tech companies, including Google's parent Alphabet Inc.,

"Momentum is now on our side" - how defence chief Ash Carter described the US-led fight against the so-called Islamic State.

US Student Detained in North Korea Apologises


An American student who has been arrested in North Korea has publicly apologised for his alleged crime, trying to steal a political banner from his hotel.
