Islamic State utilizes many child soldiers - US report

The Islamic State is accelerating it's recruitment and deployment of child soldiers.

American researchers at Georgia State University are alarmed by the results of their work,  saying it appears the use of child soldiers is not just for propaganda, but strategically important to the organization.

More than 30 killed in "US airstrike on IS" in Libya

The US is reported to have killed more than 30 people in an air strike on Islamic State fighters in Libya


Intelligence agencies say that target was a key figure in two bomb attacks in Tunisia last year.

Police say Paris attacker hid in Brussels for 20 days

Belgian police say the escaped Paris attacker Salah Abdeslam successfully hid in Brussels for 20 days after the November 13th attacks.
They believe he's now in Syria.

PM Cameron Heads in for Day 2 of EU Summit

UK Prime Minister David Cameron is trying to push his European Union reform package for a second day in Brussels.
He wasn't able to strike a deal during day one of the EU summit, even though negotiations continued on into the early morning hours of Friday.
Cutting welfare benefits to EU migrants and cutting down regulatory power are some of the reforms the prime minister wants.

EU-Turkey Summit Announced to Tackle Migration Crisis

Syria ceasefire plan to be discussed in Geneva

Top Russian diplomat confirmed a possible plan for ceasefire in Syria is to be discussed in Geneva on Friday. The agreement to implement a "cessation of hostilities" was agreed on by the United States and Russia at an International Security Conference in Munich last week. The announcement comes amid continued Russian air strikes in Syria and increasing number of casualties among civilians reported by humanitarian organizations working on the ground.  Daria Bondarchuk reports from the Russian capital.

Incumbent President Museveni in Early lead as Uganda Partial Results are Released

Incumbent President Yoweri Museveni is leading by 61%, according to early results released late thursday day.

Uganda's elections were on thursday marred by delays in voting after materials were delivered late, triggering chaos in some polling stations in the capital.

Uganda's electoral body says partial results released so far are from  23% of the polling stations in the country.

President Museveni is leading by an edge.

Main opposition candidate Kiiza Besigye is second in place with 33%. followed by former prime minister Amama Mbabazi.

Voting turned chaotic on thursday after massive delays in delivery of voting material affected the exercise.

 Over 36 polling stations around Kampala were not able to vote on time.

The electoral body has now extended the polling in affected places to Friday. Second round of provisional results are expected in a few hours. Final results will be announced on saturday.

Claims of civilian deaths in Syria airstrikes

At least 38 civilians in Syria have been killed in US led airstrikes in the past 2 days, according to an independent monitoring group.

The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights also says that 35 Islamic State fighters were killed in recent bombing.

UN to air drop aid in Syria to area besieged by Islamic State

The United Nations has announced plans to air-drop food supplies into
the besieged Syrian town of Deir al-Zor. The World Food Programme will
deliver the aid to nearly 200,000 people blockaded there by the
Islamic State.

Pope Suggests Trump is "Not a Christian"

The Pope has suggested that US presidential candidate Donald Trump is not a Christian following a six-day trip to Mexico.

Donald Trump attacked Francis for being a political pawn to the Mexican government for holding a mass at the troubled border city of Juarez. 

Referring to Trump's tough immigration position, Francis said that: "A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian".

Donald Trump swiftly fired back with a statement.

Trump rejects Pope Francis criticism

Donald Trump has hit back after Pope Francis suggested that the Republican front-runner cannot be considered a real Christian because of his position on immgration.


Speaking at the end of an official visit to Mexico, the Pope told reporters that anyone who wants to "build walls" between countries isn't honoring the teachings of the Christian faith.

Oil prices rise on potential production freeze

The price of Brent Crude rose to over $35 a barrel on Thursday as oil
exporting nations discuss the possibility of a production freeze.

Oil prices were up above $100 a barrel in mid-2014 but an excess in

David Cameron lowered expectations going into summit - analyst

David Cameron is in Brussels for negotiations to rewrite Britain's relationship with the EU ahead of the referendum on the country's membership, hoping by Friday he can have a deal.

All 28 European Union leaders are in Brussels for a summit to try to find an agreement.

Alan Wheatley, director of fact checking website In Facts, says Cameron has lowered his expectations heading into the summit.

US condemns Turkey bomb attack

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is blaming Syrian Kurds for the explosion which at least 28 Turkish soldiers.

Violence Breaks during Polling in Uganda.

Uganda's electoral body has extended voting time in some areas around the capital and its suburbs.


Violence erupted after angry voters demanded to know why there were delays in arrival of voting materials for hours.

Chaos broke out in some parts of the capital Kampala after hours of waiting in queues. 


Voting materials were not delivered on time, delaying the voting process for over 6 hours in some polling stations. 


Voters in affected areas are disappointed with the electoral process.


There were reports that angry voters attacked polling assistants and tore ballot papers. 


Police fired tear-gas to disperse crowds.


The electoral commission has apologized for the mishap and regrets the delay…..It has now extended polling time to 15GMT from 13GMT.


There is no confirmation whether this will affect the time when results will be announced. 


Results were expected within 48 hours after polling closes.
