Trump criticizes Apple for failure to help FBI over gunman's iphone

Leading Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump has criticized Apple after the computer giant said it would contest a court order to help FBI agents access data on a phone.

The phone in question belonged to Syed Rizwan Farook, who along with his wife Tashfeen Malik, killed 14 people in the Californian city of San Bernadino in December.

The FBI wants Apple's help to unlock the phone, however Apple says doing so would have implications far beyond this case and threaten the security of its customers.   Data on Apple devices have been encrypted since September 2014.

Presidential hopeful Donald Trump told America's Fox News programme, "Fox and Friends" that Apple's stance is unacceptable.

PRINCE WILLIAM CRITICISED OVER 'EU COMMENTS'

Britain's Prince William has been drawn into a political row over whether he intervened in the debate over the UK's membership of the EU.

Comments he made in a speech at the UK Foreign Office about uniting in 'common action' with other countries, have been interpreted by some as a call for Britain to avoid a so-called 'Brexit'.

Kensington Palace insist he never mentioned Europe in the address.

But it came as Prime Minister David Cameron was attempting to win support for an EU reform deal that he hopes will keep the UK in the EU.

Political reporter Theo Usherwood says the timing of the Prince's comments have led to the speculation about his motive.
