Dissident Republicans Claim Dublin Murder

The Continuity IRA, a dissident republican group,  has allegedly claimed responsibility for a shooting in Dublin last week, in which one man was killed.


The attack took place during a weigh-in for a boxing match, with police saying at least six people were involved.

At least 35 refugees drown off Turkey


At least 35 people have died after two boats carrying refugees sank off the coast of Turkey.
The deaths come as German chancellor Angela Merkel meets Turkish prime minister Ahmet Davutoglu in for talks on tackling the refugee crisis.

UK Police considering eagles to take down drones

Police in Britain are considering using trained birds of prey to target and take down drones out of the sky.


The pilot-less aircrafts are used to gather footage from hard-to-reach areas, however there are concerns that they are becoming more widely used for criminal activities.

EU calls on Turkey to open border to Syrian refugees

The EU says it is still waiting for Turkey to open its border to
Syrian refugees on Monday morning, after the Turkish foreign minister
promised to do so in a meeting with EU foreign ministers on Saturday.

Government air strikes on Syria's largest city Aleppo forced tens of
thousands of refugees to flee their homes over the weekend.

Cameron will warn of refugee camps in the UK if Britain leaves the EU

British Prime Minister David Cameron is reported to be planning to put national security at the centre of his campaign for Britain to stay within the European Union.

Downing Street sources say the British leader will warn that refugee camps like those in Calais in Northern France will spring up across England if the UK leaves the EU, as France will no longer allow it to conduct border controls on its territory.  From London, Catherine Drew reports.

Obama Confirms Oil Tax Proposal

President Barack Obama has confirmed that he will propose a new tax on oil, designed to support a transition to cleaner fuels. 

He's expected to suggest imposing a $10 fee on every barrel, to be paid by oil companies.

Such a proposal is considered politically unfeasible in the current Republican-controlled Congress.

President Obama says the money would be used to improve transportation, research and development.
