Republican candidates and Donald Trump hold rival events [CLIPS]

Republican Donald Trump has shunned a televised debate just days
before the first state voting to decide his party's candidate begins
in Iowa.

The decision came after Trump entered into a feud with the debate's TV
host, Fox News.

Fox though claim he would have done the debate if they contributed $5
million towards his charities- which they declined.

Trump instead held own event to raise money for veterans and admits he
took a chance not attending the debate.

David Cameron in Brussels to save EU renegotiation deal

British Prime Minister David Cameron is to visit Brussels on Friday for a working lunch with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker - as he seeks Juncker’s help in convincing other countries to agree to reforms of Britain’s relationship with the European Union.

UN says intra-Syrian talks will go on as planned in Geneva

The UN has confirmed that talks aimed at finding a resolution to the
conflict in Syria, planned for Friday in Geneva, will go ahead. But
there's been no confirmation of which parties will attend the summit.

Italy Would Lead Military Action Against Islamic State in Libya

The US Defense Secretary has indicated that any future military action against Islamic State militants in Libya would be led by Italy.

Ash Carter also said that the formation of a unity government in Libya would be helpful, enabling more effective international military support.

The White House is not making an explicit commitment, but officials have said military options are being seriously considered.

US: N Korea Preparing Possible Space Launch

US officials have said North Korea may be preparing for a possible space rocket launch.

Syria talks set to get underway in Geneva

Talks aimed at launching a political resolution to the nearly five-year long Syrian crisis are supposed to get underway in Geneva.

Ahead of those negotiations, at least one opposition group meeting in Riyadh said their delegation would not be boarding flights for Geneva because their demands on ending air strikes and aid blockades have not been met.

In Washington, Obama spokesman Josh Earnest said the American demand that Bashar al-Assad end his role as President of Syria is unchanged.

US confirms discussion strategies for Libya with allies

The White House is confirming, it is discussing with Western allies how they might take the fight against the Islamic State to Libya.

Libya's defence minister said earlier if a unified government cannot be formed, Western powers are prepared to fight the Islamic State inside the country, even as the Islamic State increases attacks.

With a political vacuum inside Libya since the end of the Qaddafi regime nearly five years ago, White House spokesman Josh Earnest confirmed the talks.

Over 30 Zika Virus cases confirmed in United States

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the United States has 31 confirmed cases of the Zika virus in 11 states and in Washington DC.

The statistics come as the World Health Organization announced it will convene an emergency meeting to try to find ways to stop the transmission of the virus.
