Postponed Syria peace talks will seek ceasefire

The United Nations Syria peace talks will focus on arriving at a
ceasefire among all parties, with the exception of Islamic State and
the al-Qeda affiliated al-Nusra Front .

That's according to the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, who
announced that the talks will now begin on Friday.

Britain could be highly susceptible to epidemics

MPs in Britain are warning that the country is highly susceptible to epidemics such as Ebola because of a lack of capacity to produce vaccines.


The report produced by The Science and Technology Committee praises efforts volunteers have made to tackle the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, but said the Government's response to it was undermined by a systematic delay.

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani visits Europe to rebuild trade ties

European interior ministers discuss border security

I.S. VIDEO SHOWS ATTACKERS BEFORE PARIS

The Islamic State has posted a video online claiming to show nine of the suspected Paris attackers before the 13th November assault on the French capital.

It shows beheadings of prisoners by some of the men, and training being carried out in the Middle East.

The film also contains threats to the UK, and images of British lawmakers voting for air strikes on targets in Syria.

US's Kerry hopes for "clarity" on Syria talks within 48hrs

US Secretary of Sstate John Kerry expressed hope the date of the beginning of Syria peace talks will become clear in the next couple of days. The talks between the Syrian opposition and Damascus were scheduled to start on Monday, January 25 in Swiss Geneva. Preparations were marred by disputes between the sides on the list of participants and the format of future elections in Syria. Daria Bondarchuk reports from the Russian capital.

Washington starts to dig out from massive blizzard

The official total of snow for the city of Washington was 18 inches or 46 centimeters - but the surrounding areas reported totals of more than two feet - well over 60 centimeters of snow

The historic blizzard has essentially shut down the American capital city - with many wondering where are they going to put all this snow?

New York lifts travel ban after winter storm

A travel ban has been lifted in New York after a winter storm dumped a
near record breaking 26.8 inches of snow on Central Park.

The cleanup effort is now well underway but many along the East Coast
are still struggling with the sheer volume of snowfall.

Russia and the U.S. close to compromise over Syria

Russia and the Unite States edged closer to a compromise that may help
reach a peace deal in war-torn Syria, according to Western and United
Nations diplomats.

Russia and the U.S. have supported conflicting sides in the conflict,
with Russia backing Syria's president Bashar Al-Assad and U.S.
standing firmly behind some of the Syrian opposition.

UK plans to improve Ultra Low Emission Vehicle use

The British Government is expected to announce on Monday new funding for 8 cities to introduce rewards for Ultra Low Emission Vehicles, known ULEVs.

US Fed unlikely to alter interest rates

The US Federal Reserve are unlikely to raise interest rates in the coming week, as global stock market volatility continues.

Data in the week ahead is also likely to show the US economy grew at a slower pace towards the end of last year.

Haitians head to the polls on Sunday

Haiti's President Michel Martelly said that the country's elections will go forward on Sunday, despite members of the opposition saying the vote is tainted with electoral fraud.

President Martelly told the Haitian press he believes that opposition leaders are trying to derail the vote so they can set up a transitional government they would dominate.

Google Agrees to Pay Back Taxes in UK
