U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will use talks in Moscow on Tuesday to try and narrow differences with Russian leader Vladimir Putin over the role of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The US State Department says Mr. Kerry will try to prepare the ground for a third round of talks on Syria, amid doubts over whether a meeting planned for this Friday in New York will go ahead.

FBI charges Maryland man in alleged terrorist plot

The FBI has charged a man in the American state of Maryland with planning a terrorist attack for the so-called Islamic State group.

Thirty-year old Mohammed Elshinaway was charged in a Baltimore Court with supplying material support for Islamic State. As our North American correspondent John Clarke reports, authorities allege the man was being paid through fake e-commerce accounts:

Registration Required for Drones and Their Owners

New rules will soon require drones in the United States, and the people who fly them, to be registered in a national database.

The rules go into effect on December 21st.

Argentina: dozens die in bus crash

Dozens of police officers have lost their lives in northern Argentina, when the bus they were in went off the side of a bridge, falling 20 meters into a riverbed.

The bus was part of a convoy travelling on a national highway.

NASA seeks new recruits to overcome astronaut shortage

The American space agency NASA is advertising for new recruits who may end up participating in a mission to Mars.

NASA says it will accept applications to join its team of astronauts until the middle of February.

A US Army Sergeant who walked away from his outpost in Afghanistan in 2009 and spent 5 years in the Taliban's captivity is to face charges of desertion.

If convicted, Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl could face a life sentence in prison.
