Prosecutors say a preschool teacher in France lied about stabbed my a man sympathetic to the Islamic State.
Investigators say the teacher wounded himself.

John Kerry meets Sergei Lavrov in Moscow

Kerry To Discuss Future Of Assad At Kremlin Meetings


U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will use talks in Moscow on Tuesday to try and narrow differences with Russian leader Vladimir Putin over the role of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The US State Department says Mr. Kerry will try to prepare the ground for a third round of talks on Syria, amid doubts over whether a meeting planned for this Friday in New York will go ahead.

U.S. federal interest rate hike all but certain

The U.S. federal reserve is expected to hike its short-term interest rate this week.

The move is seen as a sign of confidence in the economy, but it could put the brakes on some sectors of the economy.

Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen had planned to raise the benchmark rate earlier in the fall but delayed the move after financial markets tumbled when China devalued its currency.

FBI charges Maryland man in alleged terrorist plot

The FBI has charged a man in the American state of Maryland with planning a terrorist attack for the so-called Islamic State group.
Thirty-year old Mohammed Elshinaway was charged in a Baltimore Court with supplying material support for Islamic State. As our North American correspondent John Clarke reports, authorities allege the man was being paid through fake e-commerce accounts:

Registration Required for Drones and Their Owners

Argentina: dozens die in bus crash

Dozens of police officers have lost their lives in northern Argentina, when the bus they were in went off the side of a bridge, falling 20 meters into a riverbed.

NASA seeks new recruits to overcome astronaut shortage

UN Secretary General optimistic after Paris Agreement

On the heels of Climate Change summit, COP21, the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called the Paris agreement a victory. 

With nearly 200 countries as signatories, the agreement is being lauded for its multilateral diplomacy. 

Speaking to reporters at UN Headquarters in New York, Ban Ki-moon was optimistic on the commitment the international community is taking to curb climate change.

Obama hints at willingness to visit Cuba

MAN CONVICTED OVER UK TERROR PLOT

A man's been convicted in London of plotting an Islamic State-inspired knife attack.
