Trump assailed for proposal to close US borders to Muslims

Donald Trump, the leading candidate in the race for the Republican Party's Presidential nomination, is calling for a total ban on Muslims entering the United States.


His proposal is being condemned by President Obama, and by other Republicans seeking the Presidency.

Trump proposes "total shutdown" of US to Muslims

Donald Trump, the leading candidate in the race for the Republican Party's Presidential nomination, is calling for a total ban on Muslims entering the United States.


He says America's borders should be closed even to Muslim tourists seeking to visit the country.

UN calls for $20 billion for humanitarian aid [wrap]

The United Nations is calling for over $20 billion to fund global
projects and provide humanitarian aid in 2016.

The amount requested is a new record and the UN say that these funds
are needed to help over 87 million people in 37 nations around the
globe.

JAB Holding Company buys Keurig Green Mountain to expand coffee empire

U.S. Department of Justice Opens Chicago Police Department Probe

The U.S. Department of Justice is opening an independent investigation into the Chicago Police Department. The federal probe follows the ongoing civil rights investigation into the death of Laquan McDonald. A video released by the Chicago police showed McDonald being shot 16 times last year. The video sparked outrage across the city and later led to the resignation of the police superintendent.
