US VP Biden announces additional support for Ukraine

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has announced additional support for the government of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

In recent weeks, the fighting between Ukraine and Russian nationalists has lessened.

Germany-Egypt flight diverted by bomb threat

A flight from Germany to Egypt was forced to land in Hungary after the airline received a bomb threat. 

Germany recently voted to increase its involvement in the military campaign against ISIS in Syria.

Greece eases capital controls to permit domestic investment in the Athens stock exchange

Greece is set to ease capital controls for Greek national who want to invest in the Athens stock exchange.

Syrian Govt Claims US Coalition Airstrikes 'Hit Army Camp'

The Syrian government has said that US-led coalition airstrikes hit an army camp in the east of the country, killing three soldiers and wounding 13 others.

Coalition forces say they have no indication that the attack killed Syrian soldiers.

THOUSANDS WITHOUT POWER IN UK AFTER STORM DESMOND

Thousands of people remain without power in the north of the UK after Storm Desmond wreaked havoc across the region.

Many schools and hospitals are closed, and thousands have had to be evacuated from their homes.

The army has been drafted in to help with the rescue and clean-up effort, with the northern county of Cumbria particularly badly affected.

Turkish anger at photos of Russian rocket launcher

A Russian serviceman has provoked anger from Turkey after photos appeared showing him allegedly holding a rocket launching as his ship travelled through Turkish waters.

Obama terrorism address [clips]

President Obama has told the American people that the United States
must not give in to fear in the wake of last week's mass shooting in
San Bernardino.


It's just the third time the President has spoken directly from the
Oval Office and vowed that groups like the self-proclaimed Islamic
state will be defeated.

In his address he called on the US Congress to do more by stopping
those on no-fly lists from purchasing weapons and once again called
for a ban on assault weapons.

London attack raises questions over transport safety

Police in the United Kingdom are urging witnesses that filmed a stabbing on the London underground to share their footage with investigators. 

A 56-year-old man was seriously wounded in the attack that police are describing as a "terrorist incident."

A knifeman is believed to have shouted "this is for Syria" during the attack and questions are now being raised about safety on London's public transport.

Venezuela election preview
