Belgium issues arrest warrant for accomplice of Paris attacker

Belgian authorities have issued an international arrest warrant for a person they believe aided Paris attacker Salah Abdeslam who remains at large.

The warrant is for Mohamed Abrini who was filmed with Abdeslam at a fuel station in France two days before the attacks.

The British government will outline its 5-year spending plan later (12.30G) - as it decides how to spend around 6 trillion dollars of taxpayers money...

RUSSIA: 2 DEAD AFTER PLANE SHOT DOWN

Moscow says two Russians were killed after one of its warplanes was shot down by Turkey along the Syrian border.

One of the pilots on the plane is dead, with the other missing, according to Russia - and a marine involved in a rescue attempt was also killed.

Military alliance NATO has promised to stand by member Turkey but is calling for calm and diplomacy.

It comes as French President Francois Hollande continues his push for more action against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq in the wake of the Paris attacks.

Hannah Lucinda-Smith of the Times newspaper is at the Turkey-Syria border - she says people there believe the Russian plane did encroach on Turkish airspace.

Moscow says Turkey is de facto protecting the Islamic State

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev accused Turkey of de facto protecting the Islamic State, saying some officials there benefit from supplies of oil controlled by the militants. Speilberg and Streisand among those honoured by Obama

President Obama has awarded 17 Americans with the nation's highest civilian honor - the Medal of Freedom. 

This year's list includes giants of the silver screen, sport and the stage.  

Baseball legend Willie Mays was one of the recipients. 

The President also praised musician James Taylor, director Steven Spielberg and singer Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio, a music producer and songwriter.   
He joked when he presented singer Barbara Streisand with her award:

Chicago mayor calls for calm after video of teenager being shot by police is released

US officials have released video from a dashboard camera showing a white police officer shooting a black teenager 16 times in Chicago.

Officer Jason Van Dyke has been charged with first-degree murder for killing 17 year old Laquan McDonald last year.

Police use of excessive force against African Americans has been the subject of nationwide protests for months.

UN Chief calls for urgent steps to de-escalate tension after Turkey downs Russian jet

As tensions flare between Moscow and Ankara over the downing of a Russian fighter plane by the Turkish Air Force, the United Nations has called for calm from all sides.

US: Turkey did warn Russian jet of airspace violation

US officials say Turkish pilots did provide verbal warnings to a Russian fighter jet, before shooting it down over Syria.


The Russians claim their pilots did not stray into Turkish airspace, and President Putin has accused the Turks of what he called a "stab in the back".

Osborne sets out where billions of spending cuts will fall

Britain's Finance Minister is due to set out where $30 billion of spending cuts will fall as the government seeks to eliminate the budget deficit by the end of 2020.

Obama and Hollande vow to relentlessly fight ISIS

Speaking today from Washington, French President Francois Hollande and US President Barack Obama vowed to go after the Islamic State with relentless determination, broadening the coalition's air campaign, with a focus on taking out key parts of ISIS' economic infrastructure.

The leaders also championed the need to increase information sharing among the nations fighting the militant group, and asked the EU to pass a bill allowing airlines to share information about passengers.

Regarding a Russian plane shot down early Tuesday that was allegedly in violation of Turkey's airspace, the leaders urged Russian President Vladimir Putin not to escalate the situation.

Mr. Hollande and Mr. Obama both said Moscow is welcomed to join the fight against ISIS, so long as the country restricts its airstrikes to ISIS targets, and supports a political transition in Syria that takes Bashar Al-Assad out of power.

Ahead of talks with Mr. Putin Thursday, speaking through a translator, Francois Holland said all countries are welcome to join the fight:

The presidents of France and the United States have met to discuss next steps in the struggle against the so-called Islamic State.

Abid Naseer sentenced to 40 years in US over UK bomb plot

A Pakistani man has been jailed for 40 years in New York after being convicted of plotting an attack on a shopping center in the British city of Manchester.


Abid Naseer was convicted earlier this year, but sentenced on Tuesday in a court in Brooklyn.

US GDP climbs to 2.1%

According to the United States Commerce Department- gross domestic
product in the US grew at an annualized rate of 2.1% in the third
quarter.

That's up from an initial estimate of 1.5% and economists expect this
news to have a real baring on when the Federal Reserve raise interest
rates in the US.

Syrians who entered Honduras illegally ask for asylum

Five Syrians who were detained by Honduran authorities last week for traveling with forged Greek passports are now seeking asylum in the Central American country. 

Honduran authorities arrested the men upon their arrival at the Toncontin airport in the nation's capital, Tegucigalpa, from where they planned to travel on to the United States.
