The Obama administration is mulling its response to the news that Turkey shot down a Russian fighter jet.

The incident has further complicated the talks between French President Francois Hollande and President Obama.

Ahmed Mohamed "clock boy" sues for $15 million

American teenager Ahmed Mohamed, known for being suspended from his high school after authorities mistook his homemade clock for a bomb, is suing for $15 million dollars after being scarred by the incident.

In a statement, his lawyer said public mistreatment of the teenager left him traumatized and prompted threats against him and his family.

Hollande and Obama meet in Washington

French President Francois Hollande is arriving in Washington for talks with US President Barack Obama on an international effort to defeat the Islamic State.

France had redoubled efforts to fight the group, following a series of deadly attacks in Paris on the 13th of November.

Russian President Vladimir Putin says the downing of a Russian plane by Turkey is a 'stab in the back'.

NATO has called an extraordinary meeting (Tuesday 16GMT) to discuss the incident along the Turkey-Syria border.
 
Moscow says the Su-24 crashed on the Syrian side of the border, and denies it had violated Turkish airspace.

Both pilots ejected from the plane, but Syrian rebel forces say at least one of them is dead.

Russia began air strikes in Syria in late September and has been accused by western powers of supporting the government of Bashar al Assad rather than prioritising the targeting of Islamic State militants.

Easyjet cancels all Sharm el-Sheikn flights until the New Year

Britain's budget airline Easyjet has cancelled all flights between the UK and the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh until the first week of January.

Russia threatens halting gas and coal supplies to Ukraine over Crimea blackout

Russia threatens to halt coal supplies to Ukraine in response to what it calls an "energy blockade" of Crimea which stared Sunday after power towers carrying electricity to the Russian-annexed peninsula were hit by blasts. FRENCH POLICE EXAMINE 'SUICIDE BELT'

French police are investigating a belt found on a street in France's capital which is suspected to be a suicide device left by one of the Paris attackers.

It was discovered in a bin in the Montrouge district, through which one of the main suspects in the attacks, Salah Abdeslam, is thought to have passed on the night of the attacks which killed 130 people.

He remains at large and is thought to have fled to Belgium, which remains on high alert.

US issues worldwide travel alert in wake of Paris attacks

One of last Northern White Rhinos Dies in California

One of the world’s last four remaining northern white rhinos has died in a zoo in California.
The northern white rhino population was devastated by poachers seeking their prized horns, and was declared extinct in the wild in 2008.
